NFL denies Cowboys' request to wear decal honoring fallen Dallas officers
The NFL denied the Dallas Cowboys’ request to wear a decal on their helmets during the season that would have paid tribute to the five police officers killed last month in an ambush.
The team had been wearing a decal with the words “Arm in Arm” since the first day of training camp this summer. Dallas police Chief David Brown and Mayor Mike Rawlings paid the team a visit on that day, according to Fox 4 News. The NFL’s strict rules on uniforms forced the league to deny the Cowboys’ request to wear the decal for the upcoming season. Dallas police said it appreciated the Cowboys’ support. “Their concern for the families of our fallen officers, the Dallas Police Department, and the City of Dallas is what matters most, and we know that support will continue for the immediate and long term future,” the department said in a statement. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and tight end Jason Witten, who created the decal, said they were disappointed with the league’s decision but said they believed the stickers already served its purpose. The Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation told TMZ they were “extremely upset” over the NFL’s decision. read more |
Re: NFL denies Cowboys' request to wear decal honoring fallen Dallas officers
I can't remember what all the outrage were about last time when it came to helmet decals or jersey patches but it seems to happen every 1-2 years.
The NFL has a uniform policy and very rarely do they sway from it, people should have learned that by now. Dead players, owners and such you can se a small decal or patch and then you have the ones that every team wears. Apart from that, if you let one team support a great cause then you open a Pandoras box. |

Agree
It was a horrible situation but imo polotics and sport should be kept separate. Do things around the stadium but keep ut off the field |

Agree with the post, but, find it odd that this is the only rule they actually enforce consistently. Good to know where they draw the line. |
Re: NFL denies Cowboys' request to wear decal honoring fallen Dallas officers
Probably worried they'd have to allow Black Lives Matter Stickers as well in the interests of fairness (WTF that means)...
I'd like to cut the pink down to one week, instead of all of October as it waters down the impact awareness to what medical industries has received billions to treat... but no cure... |

Personally if change it to testicular cancer anyway. Breast cancer gets far more support
