this is a discussion within the NFL Community Forum; Victory Belles was the best I ever heard. I love Aretha Franklin but honestly thought her version of the National Anthem was just a bit too much and didn't care for it at all....

But about 1/3 the way thru I put my own traditionalist feelings aside and listened for what it was, a soul version for lack of a better term. She put a lot into it and I respected it from that point of view. Perhaps I was caught up in the moment but when I get teary eyed and it feels like my heart is gonna burst thru my chest, I have to give it its due credit. And good gawd that woman still has some amazing pipes! I'll have to check out Victory Bells version. Other great renditions... Randy Owen (from Alabama the band) Whitney Houston Faith Hill The US Marine Corp dude a few years ago (dude didn't even need a mic, short thick black guy) Lady Ga-Ga (I can't believe I even typed that ******'s name, but credit where due) |
