Vikes Decline Peterson's Option
The*Vikings*are moving on without*Adrian Peterson.
Minnesota announced Tuesday that it will not exercise the 2017 option on Peterson's contract. The running back was due $18 million, but will now become an unrestricted free agent on March 9. "Adrian is an important part of the*Minnesota Vikings*organization," said*Vikings*general manager Rick Spielman in a statement released by the team. "We will continue to have conversations with his representatives and leave our future options open while determining what is best for both parties moving forward." Someone is still going to pay the guy. It might be an incentive-laden deal, but he's going to affect some team's cap. hopefully a team that was looking at a guard or d-lineman.
