Didn't expect to see that (OC firing) this season. Panthers were middle of the league offensively. Oh well.

Players still have to execute.

From what I've read most of their offense came from Cam running and Olsen catching (when healthy). Take away those two and they were scraping the bottom.

One item to note is that it didn't take them 5 years to figure out there was a problem like Payton did with the Saint's D. I also think that the Panthers' powers that be are probably a bit embarrassed that they blew a first round pick on McCaffery and he was relegated to a foot note by a third round pick named Kamara.

McCaffery might shine once they get a OC.

If Carolina pulled it out Shula and Dorsey would be considered genius's.

I feel like the OC position is pretty meaningless with Cam. When you break it all down they are basically still a one trick pony, offensively. A huge chunk of their offense on Sunday was pretty much all centered around variations on the same basic, simple college-type plays, with either the fake or the real handoff. Cam takes the snap, and either (a) hands off, and fakes like he's keeping the ball and running off in the other direction to one side; or (b) he fakes the handoff, and keeps the ball and runs with it, or (c) he fakes a handoff, then scrambles around a bit and throws a pass to Olson, or rarely, somebody else. They really don't have anything much else except misdirection and sometimes the read option out of the shotgun. It's not like Carolina needs a true wizard of the X's and O's with Cam back there. I'm not some super genius in the film room, but even I could see from the bleachers that their whole offense on Sunday was based on simple plays designed around either, (a) (b) or (c) above.

You couldn't melt me and pour me into that position. Not with Cam at the helm.
