NFL has a mess on its hands in Mexico
Regardless of how the NFL resolves the question of whether to proceed with Monday night’s game of the year in Mexico City, the league has yet another mess of its own making.
Here we are, six days before the Chiefs and Rams will meet in Mexico, and the league engaged in no obvious proactive effort to solve the problem until the pot reached a full, raging boil. The turf at Aztec Stadium remains a “mess,” but the NFL is “determined” to play the game, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. It’s easy to envision a series of hectic meetings and frazzled conference calls during which a variety of arguments are made and considerations are balanced. Here’s hoping that the only factors that ultimately matters are: (1) the safety of the players; and (2) the integrity of the game. https://nbcprofootballtalk.files.wor...2&h=316&crop=1 Remember the second one? That was the cover the NFL used to justify whacking the Patriots over a trivial football-inflation issue under a standard that had been on the books for so long that no one knew why it was even there. Taking a little air out of the ball to make it easier to throw (the NFL failed to prove that this ever happened) and thus making the game better is a far cry from forcing two of the best offenses in the NFL to play on a field that looks like the vacant lot in every neighborhood where a house was torn down and a smattering of grass, weeds, rocks, and dirt is now in its place. more on PFT |

They don't care about American Football. Stop shoving it in markets people really could care less.

Player safety is paramount here.
Postpone if necessary. |

The players should tell Mexico to Pound Sand... I mean Sod?

Imagine all the people that booked flights and hotel rooms in Mexico. I'm sure that's non-refundable. They must be pissed.

American football is not a global sport like baseball, basketball, and soccer it never has been and never will be. The sooner they figure it out the better.

I would imagine the same goes for Mexico city. |
Re: NFL has a mess on its hands in Mexico
NFL claims player safety paramount so game will be moved to Los Angeles...
Translation: NFL League Office will do anything to keep the Saints from getting home-field advantage in the playoffs... And the Rams should have to play in London next year... |

That field looks like Matt Ryan's underpants on a bad day.

Re: NFL has a mess on its hands in Mexico
Why is the NFL so concerned about field conditions for Monday night?
Never had a problem with forcing and letting teams play on baseball diamonds forever. Also Philadelphia’s field caused many career ending injuries and that wasn’t a problem either. Those mexicans can probably resod that field in like 10 minutes The sod will be a little uneven but you take what you can get. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dr5qCYfX4AAvKdJ.jpg Remember WR Wendell Davis getting hurt in Philly over their crappy field? |
Re: NFL has a mess on its hands in Mexico
NFL has money to burn. They could care less where the game is. People will go and the tv money has already been made.

Re: NFL has a mess on its hands in Mexico
Moving the game back to LA seems unfair to me. Yes, I know that it is naturally a home game for LA(and quite frankly, I think it's dumb that teams lose their home games). The thing is though, you actually prep around the venue that the game is taking place. All season long, they've had the game in Mexico on their schedule, and now suddenly they have to deal with a home crowd and home environment against the Rams. This will change the gameplan for both teams and just seems incredibly ****ed up to me.

Mexico City or Los Angeles? Either way it's Mexico.

I don't have a pulse on American Football in Europe, only what I've read - and some of that I read 10-15 years ago. Figured you would know the most. As for Mexico, I still think it's a market the NFL is trying to push its way into. |

Re: NFL has a mess on its hands in Mexico
Games should not be played outside the US. If you want international games start pre seasons a week earlier abd play then internationally. I live in About 10 miles from Wembley yet i have not gone to one game there,i don't belive fans that only have 8 home games a season should have to lose these game to the international market
