Browns will win the Superbowl in 2020... LOL.

Pretty funny stuff...

On paper, sure the Browns will contend in the AFC this season. I believe Baker is the real deal at QB + they've added (Odell, Hunt, Greedy, Sheldon) nice pieces on both sides of the ball ... but the Super Bowl? ...

Make the playoffs first.

Re: Browns will win the Superbowl in 2020... LOL.

They have most of the pieces in place. It's a matter of getting all of the pieces to fit together nicely. History says that a team of stars rarely succeeds because the egos get in the way.

It's also difficult to see a team that has lived in the NFL cellar for decades somehow winning it all in their first winning season. Agree with KM, 1 - have a winning season 2- make the playoffs 3-win playoff games

They will be fun to watch. Not much chemistry though. Hunt is gone for most of the season so not sure why they even brought him up. A lot of talent but not much chemistry. Maybe wildcard.

I have them making the playoffs, but definitely not the SB.

The NFL has never been like the NBA where you can predict the winner in the off season.

Over the past several years, the NFC has been the tricky conference to predict cause teams rise and fall so quickly, while the AFC up until 2015 was dominated by two quarterbacks back and forth.

Right now, I think there is going to be some mystery team out of the NFC that no one expects at all and the AFC is going to be the usual suspects in the Pats.

For their fans sake I hope they can just become a stable franchise. String together a decade of 7-9, 10-6 and an occacional 12-4 season and maybe andvance in the playoffs a time or two.

Mayfield seems like the real deal and if they can keep building a team around him that franchise just might be able to do the kind of turnaround we did when Brees and SP arrived.

Mayfield has burned a lot of bridges in his short career, we'll see if Kitchens and The Monkman can keep him grounded.

Browns are officially overrated by FiveThirtyEight's word.

Looking at the Dawg pound schedule ...

Bengals twice, Cards, Dolphins, Niners, Bucs & Jets. Doable schedule but the Steelers, Ravens & Pats will be tough.

With Mayfield at QB, they'll always have a chance.

It's almost a given a rookie QB with success will slump in year 2. Only a couple were able to duplicate it in over a decade.

Pulling together a pile of high profile talent has rarely resulted in a Championship.

Re: Browns will win the Superbowl in 2020... LOL.

I agree with FiveThirtyEight's analysis.

The Browns are a middle of the pack team. I like them to go 9-7 or even 10-6, but Super Bowl contenders? They're not there yet.

On the other hand, as other folks have brought up, they could have some bad chemistry with all the egos on there. Beckham is a punk and a diva, Mayfield's personality rubs some folks the wrong way, and Hunt is a woman beater.

Yeah, that mystery team could also be a very familiar face most people have written off. When Luck finally stands up to Brady, like Manning did in 05, Brady won't come back from it.

You mean the Bills? The Bucs are not on the schedule.

Niners and Cards are at home on back to backs after playing the Steelers. Niners are off a bye also, and Cards are at home for a third straight.

You forgot LAR btw and Seattle. Both of those games are off short rest.

In predicting a QBs success, the 2nd year of starting is so much more important than that of the first. I've seen so many "great" QBs with wonderful rookie seasons, only to fizzle out just as quick as they burst into the league. I do think Baker may be a good QB, but to already anoint them as Super Bowl contenders is laughable. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Mahomes took a step back as well.

+1.

Just about every QB who has eclipsed 5k will have some sort of regression in year 2. In addition, defensive coordinators have a season full of tape on Patrick.

100% agree and I have been saying this since the Colts hired Chris Ballard as GM that they are going to be a threat in the AFC. He was the reason K.C. got their act together so fast with building a team under Reid. It took him a year to clean house and get Pagano out, but since then he's nailed their last draft and rebuilt them. The biggest priority was putting an o-line around Luck and not letting him get killed out there. But they've also built up a respectable defense that hasn't gotten much credit.

Luck is not a bust. People on the other Saints forum constantly nitpick his INT percentage, but when you look at all his numbers across the board, he's done pretty darn well with minimum talent around him in a similar way John Elway did on those early Denver teams with Reeves' obsolete Smashmouth offense. INTs and win/loss percentage seem to be the only two QB stats that people focus on heavily these days, but they aren't all that matters. Luck has his bad games and will bounce back the next week. He legitimized himself last year proving that he wasn't a fluke from the early success when Indy was beating up on their awful division.

Not to get off subject, but this is something that grinds my gears with QBs and stats. I'd much rather have the fearless QB who isn't scared of throwing INTs and will take dangerous shots down field. Give me Elway, Favre and Luck any day of the week over guys like Rodgers and Cousins whom will stand there and take the sacks and throw out of bounds to avoid messing up their stat line.

The Colts were the hottest team last year going into the playoffs. If not for some rare chip shot misses from Adam V, they would've entered the 4th quarter 17-24 vs K.C. The Chiefs were doing everything to blow that game with Reid's horrible play calling when they had a big lead. He started going for it on 4th down and if not for a few screw ups, Indy would've took them to the wire and probably beat them.

I remember that game, Manning sacked Brady 6 times!!

Re: Browns will win the Superbowl in 2020... LOL.

Funny thing is, they ran all over the Pats today. They probably exposed their main weakness on defense.

I've been comparing this year's Pats defense to the 2015 Broncos. They're similar but have one major difference -

The 2015 Broncos had issues with the deep ball. That was their one weakness but it was rarely ever exploited. They faced Pittsburgh in the post season without Antonio Brown and yet the Steelers offense still managed a few big plays on them. The Pats that year also were lacking in deep threats that could hurt them.

This year's Pats defense is the opposite, they rank #1 against the deep pass, but they struggle against the run.

The Pats' big weakness is who is kicking for them. Imagine Nugent missing a crucial kick for them.

Next week is gona be their biggest test so far.

Special teams woes arguably cost them a SB too. The one against Philly; those missed extra points and field goal early on took points off the board.

Gostkowski also had a big miss against the Rams.

Even when they get him back, special teams are still shaky.
