Arthur Blank will take next couple of weeks to evaluate “everything”

Falcons coach Dan Quinn’s job appears safe. For now.

A league source indicated earlier that the current expectation is the Falcons will wait until the end of this season before making a coaching change.

Owner Arthur Blank appeared to confirm that to reporters after Sunday’s 27-20 loss to the Seahawks.

“We have no plans [of a coaching change now],” Blank said, via Vaughn McClure of ESPN.

Blank said he would take the next couple of weeks to evaluate “everything,” with all the former General Managers in the building other than Thomas Dimitroff helping him with the evaluation, per D. Orlando Ledbetter of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The Falcons have lost six in a row to fall to 1-7 as they head into their bye week.

So Blank's gonna consult his "former managers" to evaluate a coaching change. No wonder they suck.

management so bad, when you break down who is in the front office and what players is on the field, that team needs to clean house so bad that its not funny. Its similar to when we had to clean house after Ditka came in and even then it wasnt nearly as bad. So many personnel and coaches in the Falcons organization that have failed so miserably on other teams, most of them former GMs, then they hired Koetter back which they should of known was going to do nothing after his first stint and the one in Tampa. When you break it down, hard to find a team more dysfunctional unless you look at the Dolphins who have a history of doing much of the same questionable moves over the years.

Re: Arthur Blank will take next couple of weeks to evaluate “everything”

It is obvious to me that they have never come back from the 28-3 debacle, and will not likely come back from it without major changes. Their actual W/L record since that game happened to them, has been abysmal.

It has the trajectory of, 28-3 was their high water mark, and everything slowly collapsed from that point forward.

I don't want them to change a thing -- I like the Falcons sucking. But in reality, at some point they are going to need to clean house and start over, burn some sage, and get on with the rebuild. 28-3 was a thing that happened to them -- they have obviously "lost their mojo" (to borrow from Austin Powers) and now big changes will need to be made to get it back. Like the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills always losing Super Bowls in the 1970s, you can't really come back from something like that, it will drive your fan base and your players crazy. The new players get infected with the contagion from the old players, the crowd feeds off the negative energy, they know what's coming, it's ugly and it won't go away until they make big changes.

Its like the Falcons eventually got exposed in the grand daddy of them all on Defense. Its not just they havent recovered from it, their defense has looked as bad or worse since the 3rd and 4th qtr of that SB.

Their drafts have been bad, they remind me of the Packers under McCarthy his last 3-4 years where they never really hit on anyone, Falcons hit on Hooper by luck in the 5th I think, but I wouldnt be sold on Hooper performing to any level past this year if they clean house, similar to how Cam Meredith was in Chicago for 1 year and went into a power house offense the next.

Re: Arthur Blank will take next couple of weeks to evaluate “everything”

The Falcons defense was never that good.

In 2016, they had an opportunistic defense that got a lot of turnovers and stopped teams in the red zone kinda like our 2009 unit.

Also like our 2009 unit, they gave up tons of passing yards and were gashed by the run game.

They would've been OK with that defense if their offense didn't blow big leads by Shanahan not wanting to run the ball when they were up by 2-3 scores. This isn't just about the SB loss and 28-3 meltdown. That Falcons team blew a 20 point lead to the Chargers that year, all cause they refused to run the ball. They almost blew a lead against us for the same reason in the week 17 game.

I said all through 2017 that they shouldn't have even been in the playoffs that year. They won close games by the skin of their teeth thanks to teams making costly errors. They also blew a 17-0 lead to the Jay Cutler Dolphins.

Last year they basically had a 7-9 season similar to the ones we used to have. They looked promising at times, had some impressive wins, blew leads, lost games they arguably should've won, and then completely crapped the bed when they were favored. We went through that all through out 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Good comparison though the Packers dug their own hole by completely ignoring free agency for years.

I never believed they were really that great of a team during Rodgers' prime cause they would get blown the hell out embarrassingly in the playoffs. NFC favorites every year and would look like garbage when they finally ran into a decent team in the playoffs. Their fans talk about 2014 a lot, but I'm fairly confident if they win the NFCCG, New England would've took care of them with ease in the Super Bowl. The Pats had barely lost to them in the regular season at Lambeau and Bill B rarely ever loses to the same opponent twice.

They were always several pieces away from being a true legit contender, but playing in a crappy division and racking up 5-6 easy wins vs Chicago, Minnesota and Detroit used to mask that.

Even this year, I'm still not convinced the Packers are that good. They're beating up on a crappy division yet again, and haven't looked impressive in any of their wins. They beat the Vikings before Kirk Cousins got hot and even in that game, they struggled. They barely beat the Chiefs without Mahomes and 3 of their defensive starters and looked very beatable that whole game.

Packers team is very dependent on how long Rodgers has to throw, im also confident if you keep Rodgers in the pocket between the hashes he will struggle, it seems most of his passing is running outside the pocket with alot of check down throws or throws to wideouts where the defenders fail to locate the ball or not looking for it.
