Redskins officially name Ron Rivera coach
The Washington Redskins named Ron Rivera their new head coach Wednesday, and he promptly hired a defensive coordinator.
"After several meetings with Coach Rivera, it was clear he is the right person to bring winning football back to Washington, D.C.," Redskins owner Dan Snyder said in a statement. "He is widely respected around the league as a man of great integrity and has proven to be one of the finest coaches in the country." The Redskins will introduce Rivera, who coached the Carolina Panthers for nine years, at a news conference scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. ET. Washington also reached agreement on a deal with former NFL head coach Jack Del Rio to be the defensive coordinator, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Del Rio, 56, has been an ESPN analyst. He was the defensive coordinator for the Panthers in 2002 and the Denver Broncos from 2012 to 2014, when John Fox was the head coach of those teams. more here He should do well there |
Re: Redskins officially name Ron Rivera coach
Dallas should have taken advantage of a very weak NFC East this year. Giants and Philly will be better in 2020.
Give Ron/Del Rio a year or two, they'll turn that franchise around and become competitive again. |
Re: Redskins officially name Ron Rivera coach
RiverBoat Ron as we know him will cease to exist in Washington.
It's a death march for all Coach's who have come to Danny's world. Through the years I have always respected Rivera and am sorry to see him take this journey. |
Re: Redskins officially name Ron Rivera coach
Man... the Redskins D-Line is going to be nasty.
Ryan Kerrigan, Montez Sweat, Jonathan Allen, Da’Ron Payne, Matt Ioannadis and probably Chase Young with the #2 pick. |
