Joe Burrow should think twice about accepting fate in Cincy — Whitlock

I don't usually like it when college players pull this kind of thing (Eli, Elway, etc) but Burrow has already proven himself to be a really very special player, and I am really NOT feeling the "Burrow to Cincy" vibe. I think it will be a mess there, and Burrow should do whatever it takes to get out of it. Cincy right now just isn't a good fit for him (in truth, it isn't a good fit for hardly anybody) and I just think it would be a waste of a very special player to have him slog away his championship window (the rookie deal that lets the team afford to put other key players and pieces around him) on a team that isn't going anywhere. Well, if you're a Burrow fan, there's always the hope of waiting for the second team contract he signs, a few years from now, because unless I am reading these vibes completely wrong, I really don't see this being a success and I don't see him staying there with the Bengals, long term, hoisting the Lombardi, getting his number retired, being THE GUY there in Cincy for many years, etc etc. I just don't feel it in my bones, I don't feel it in my gut -- I simply don't feel like he will be successful in Cincinnati, and sometimes that gut feeling that something isn't right, is really the strongest indicator.

I hear u bro but I had that gut feeling about LSUs o- line coming into this season . Joe gave them that stare down. And they went off .

Bengals are not that bad. Several good WR's, good RB. Improve their OL and he could do ok. At least get into some fun shootouts.

I moved to Cinci from SWLA about 30 years ago and witnessed the shipwreck of the HMS Bungle first hand. This "team" is one of the perennial cluster-fcks in the NFL....because of Mike Brown, a fitting bookend for the equally bad Cleveland Browns. He continues to draft players and free agents who are distractions and/or have discipline issues and expects coaches to deal with it. He also can destroy a person's will. Marvin Lewis arrived with fire in his belly and within two years he looked and sounded like a PW'ed boy friend.

Brown is cheap beyond compare and I don't see him buying the O-line talent needed for Burrow to succeed. I was in line waiting for a taxi at JFK a few years ago...and the guy in front of me was none other than Mike Brown. Net worth of nearly $2 billion and too cheap to pay a limo says something. The Bungles are projected to have over $52 million in cap space in 2020 but I don't expect them to make a splash in the free agent pool.

I feel for Burrow. If he can succeed in Cinci he is an even better QB the guy is a true miracle worker.

Rumor is they didn't want to put AJ Green on IR because it would end up costing them money filling another roster spot. Probably true if he is worth 2 billion and still hailing a cab. If he signs another WR that would mean he would have to downgrade to the city bus.

The Saints are the perfect fit for him and them.
