You're incorrect in stating that the majority of fans don't care. Every NFL fan I talk to has something to say about the current state of the NFL. Most agree that the players are becoming insufferable brats.

Want to prove him wrong, look at just this board. How much football is being discussed vs the politics.

MOST fans aren't chiming in because they just want football. They don't want to hear your (not you necessarily, but others like you, okay you) constant crap outside of the game.

It was a minority that let past protests affect their choice of tuning into the NFL. A very small percentage. The fact is that the vast majority of NFL fans around the world has more interest in the game itself than any theatrics prior to the kickoff.

I can’t wait.

Now to you ... the only thing that would affect my enjoyment of the game would be if it didn't take place. Anything political before, during or after will not affect that enjoyment whatsoever. I don't care! Most fans don't care. They are the silent majority that always exists in society. It's basic sociology 101. Those that are out complaining about this or that are a tiny minority that believe others all feel their way. They ask their friends who are the most likely to feel the same way, or at least let on as they do.

I too talk to fans and a few feel as you, but the vast majority just want to have football and beyond that do not let the political ramifications affect that desire.

Can't wait to not watch. Ratings will do a Greg Luganious into a jagged cliff.

They've been decreasing for years, it will continue.

The NFL is more popular than it has ever been worldwide. TV numbers are down some, but streaming via all of the many sources are not all taken into consideration in those numbers. I know several people that have gone strictly to streaming for their NFL games, but I'll stick with Sunday Ticket and network TV so that I can watch any and every game I want. Streaming to devices other than smart TV's are not measured by Nielsen Ratings and even all of those that are streamed to smart TV's are not included.

But, yes, TV numbers will continue to decrease as the technology drives more and more dedicated fans to other ways of viewing the sport that they love.

This is all supported by easily researched information. Here is a Forbes article that explains the decline and how it is not related to interest, but rather technology.

The NFL's Ratings Probably Will Continue To Decline

"For one thing, the NFL’s viewership also fell in 2016. Moreover, linear TV watching is on the decline because of the rising numbers of cord cutters among other reasons. The audience for the Super Bowl fell last year to its lowest level since 2009 though the game was one of the most exciting I have seen in years. Even the World Series, which went to seven games, posted a year-over-year viewership slump. The Oscars had its smallest audience in history this year while the Tonys saw a slight year-over-year bump in its viewership thanks to having Bruce Springsteen as a headliner. Unfortunately, viewership was still down when compared with 2016 when Hamilton swept the awards."

All types of measured viewership is down and none of the others can claim to be because of some supposed protest protesters. If it makes a few of you feel all warm and fuzzy by tuning out ... then by all means. The rest of the world will continue to tune in however possible to keep watching the game that they love and enjoy it for what it is ... entertainment.

19-0 Baby!

Dunno. I have a feeling that you really don't want to believe that offending many of the NFL's fanbase by pandering will lead to bad ratings.

No. I know that offending a small number of the fan base will lead to nothing more than frustration by that small number.

You are FAR over estimating your segment of the general public's concern.

Nope. As much as it may disappoint you, interest in the NFL will not decline for any "pandering".

I'll be here this season when you realize that and what to get excited about our Super Bowl run.

19-0 Baby!
