From vacation, that is. I went, as usual, to the Gulf Coast, my home, and stayed in the Beau Rivage for free. (or was it?)

Anyway...I didn't see any oil on the beach, yet. I was just curious to see what everybody's take is on this crisis. What's going to happen to NO and the Coast? How did something like this happen? Is there a chance that the explosion could have been an act of terrorism as a response to Obama announcing that drilling in the Gulf was going to continue?

I am really interested in everyone's opinion on some/all or any of these questions I've posed. I will await your responses...I hope I get some.

I was talking to my mom about this sunday, and like I told her, I actually became physically ill, when I first heard about this. The fact that they say they can't stop it, because it's too deep for them to get too, makes it even worse. Why didn't they consider this, before they went that deep? Money hungry morons, that are more wrapped up in their own finances, than the possibillities of eco disasters.

There is drilling much much deeper than this one out there. And a lot of it is done by other countries who could care less how much oil is leaked. If you look throughout history and compare how long we have been drilling in the GOM compared to the number of disasters. It is a darn good record.

It was an accident and equipment malfunction. Unfortunate but definitely not malicious. Thank goodness it wasn't a Cuban operated rig.

As I understand from some reports, it is similiar to Three Mile Island in that a chain of unlikely events had to take place to cause the disaster. Of course someone has to be blamed-- we have to have a goat now in all incidents, and there will be one, and you will be led to believe that whoever gets the blame is the source of all evil in the world.

I think if it were an act of sabotage, we would know, as one side or the other would certainly want the world to know if it were either terror or eco-sabotage. None of the people I would expect to trumpet such an event have really said much on it, despite what you've been led to believe, so I doubt it.

my prayers for those affected in all the related industries. and for those who just love the marshes, beaches, and open Gulf. If they can get that containment contraption working tomorrow, perhaps much can be salvaged out of this summer.
