
A co-captain of the Elephant 6 collective and creator of two underground-classic 1990s LPs, Ruston, La., band The Olivia Tremor Control became better known in the 2000s for what it hadn't done of late: recorded (nothing since 1999's skittering psych/pop collage Black Foliage: Animation Music Volume One), toured (little outside the E6 Holiday Surprise reunions), or much of anything else that resembled band-like activity. So when Will Cullen Hart mentioned in a February interview that the group had not only been laying down tracks for a new record ("30 bits we've been working on" ) but was committed to a high-profile December date in the U.K. ? the All Tomorrow's Parties music festival, curated this year by OTC muse and Neutral Milk Hotel mastermind Jeff Mangum ? even he sounded surprised.?
