Just when you thought the city couldn?t possibly dedicate a festival to yet another indigenous food item, a local nonprofit has announced the lineup for the first-ever Beignet Fest this fall.

The festival ? which aims to raise funds for children with autism ? takes place October 8 at Lafayette Square and will feature both sweet and savory versions of the iconic fried dough confection from local restaurants.?
