Music Box debuts 'Porch Life' structure at Jazz Fest
![]() As you move closer to a towering structure at the edge of a playful, circus-like row of Carnival characters, Chinese lion dancers and sideshow tents, you'll hear it ? a joyous noise of banging sounds, chimes and stomping feet. Children bat flip flops against an array of marimba-like pipes, swing from an oversized porch swing below it, tickle a porch door filled with bells, and ascend and descend the steps connecting two floors of musical architecture, with Quintron's weather-sensitive synthesizer whirring above it all like a crow's next aboard a pirate ship in a sea of Tommy Bahama shirts. The structure ? titled "Porch Life" ? is the latest from art collective Airlift and its Music Box project, making its debut inside the Fairgrounds during the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival this year. ? |
