New Orleans Pelicans pick Kentucky forward Nerlens Noel, trade him to 76ers for Jrue Holiday
 

The New Orleans Pelicans selected Nerlens Noel with their sixth overall pick in Thursday night's NBA draft and then immediately traded him to the Philadelphia 76ers, along with their 2014 first-round pick (lottery protected) in exchange guard Jrue Holiday and the 76ers' second-round pick, 42nd overall this year.

Holiday was an All-Star last season.

In a draft lacking elite talent, Noel was rated the No. 1 center prospects after playing only one season at Kentucky and averaging 10.5 points and 9.5 rebounds before he was lost for the season with a torn anterior cruciate in his left knee.

He's not expected to return from the injury until December.
