Thank You Drew

Rather than bash Drew for being human and growing older I thought I'd say thanks instead. He gave everything to the Saints and New Orleans. He's been the face of the franchise for over 15 years. He won us a Super bowl and has shown nothing but class. Drew is my kind of leader and team mate. Yep, I've got a man crush on him! Oh, and Brittney isn't too bad either. Love ya' Drew!
Thanks for everything! :p

Yep. And he played through a lot of pain over the last few years to get us there. Drew wasn’t the reason we lost . We lost because of injury. If Hill and Murray were in they would have taken pressure off Drew and we may not be having this conversation until after the SB. Those interceptions may not have even happened. We were built to win in spite of Drew’s age but we lost those pieces when it counted.

Not yet. But in my heart I know he doesn't have the "it" factor anymore. I think he sees it too.

I agree wholeheartedly, but that doesn't change the fact he had no business playing in that last game. If Payton truly believes Jameis is the future, he should have started that game.

As some here have pointed out - it's past time...

Re: Thank You Drew

I have a feeling he'll be back. Brady just said he wants to play past 45. Brittney leaked word out that Drew battled the rotator cuff injury all season long which leads me to believe that she'll support his return. I also cannot believe he'd want to leave after this season with no fans. If he does decide to return it will be because he knows he can perform at a high level and that shoulder injury is behind him.

I would love to see him play again. He should if he can and wants too.

I think that regardless of how you personally feel about Drew, it was probably a blessing for him that there were not fans in the stadium this year. A lot of people would have let him know that they were disappointed in his bending of the knee.

Re: Thank You Drew

It may have seemed heartbreaking for Drew to have the last game go the way it did with the bad game and the interceptions and no dome crowd. But, bigger picture, the Saints were 12-4 and made it to the second round of the playoffs. It's not like Drew spent his final year anonymously throwing passes on a 5-11 team. That would have been the sadder fate.

Not sure why you reference Tom Brady, as much as I hate to say this, a 2020 Brady to Brees comparison is apples to oranges.

- Brady just threw for 289.6 YPG which is the most he has thrown for since 2016, Drew's 245 YPG is the lowest he has thrown since he was a Charger. This year Brady was at a new team, new players, new coach... Drew was in very familiar setting.

- Tom Said he wanted to play until he was 45 in Aug of 2019, then 46 or 47 in Nov 2019 where also stated he set the 45 a long time ago. Now he is back to 45? It is all moot because Drew isn't going to catch Tom statistically Tom is 10 TDs ahead and only 1100 yards passing behind...

Drew isn't thinking about Tom Brady right now other than "I wish I were him playing in the SB".

Drew's Wife
Her stating that he played injured has no significant bearing on him returning to the Saints. You want all of this to be meaningful but it just isn't.

Before anyone dismisses anything that I am saying as dislike for Drew, his name is the only name that I have ever had on the back of a jersey that I have owned (other than my own). Mostly because, well wearing something with another mans name on it is not something I generally do.

Maybe if Drew Brees has to watch a Saints season from the couch then participate in the painfully abbreviated post season, he will grab Sean Payton's ear and whisper 'dafuq you doin?'.

I referenced Brady because he played without the shoulder injury that hampered Brees most the season and without the facia injury, as well. If Brees feels like he can fully recover this offseason I can see him wanting to continue playing for the same reason as Brady ... the love of the game.

As for Brittney's statements, I believe it shows her active support. That is critical in any decision to continue or quit. He has said the decision to return was made by them both over the past few years.

There is a subtle difference between supporting him and having a vote in the decision. Every year he decides to return she supports his decision and gives him the head nod. If he chooses to retire she is not going to give him the thumbs down and send his arse back out. She is his voice of reason but it is his own decision to make when he looks in that mirror.

Do you or does anyone know when Drew last played healthy Guido?

Think about this, do you remember when we used to hope Drew didn't go out and have a bad game? Well now we hope Drew goes out and has a good game and that brother is you're brain ignoring your heart.. It is very subtle and happened slowly but subconsciously you know he is not consistent or healthy enough for a whole season.

I wish it were not true, I wish he could get the Lee Majors overhaul and get right back out there playing with no caution. He cant, he is too cautious at this age, you can see it in his eyes when the camera is on him.:bng:

You don't have any idea how and what I think. I've never hoped Drew didn't go out and have a bad game. That sentiment is oozing with negativity. That's simply not a part of my thought processes. Of course, I don't have your incredible ability to read a player's mind via camera shot. Perhaps you think the ability of reading my mind is just as readily available.

And don't for a minute believe that Brittany doesn't have a vote. It may not be the deciding vote, but if she said she doesn't want him to return I would expect it to carry tremendous weight even if he was leaning toward returning himself. Conversely, if he was truly undecided I would expect her wishes for him to continue would carry just as much weight. That's just the way it is in a good solid marriage.

Good interview with Sean P/Kay Adams this morning on GMFootball ...

Sean says a lot however I get the impression we are moving on with Jameis Winston in 2021. If coach believes he's the guy, he's the guy.

I totally agree with your second paragraph. I can't agree with the first because I'm a mind reader too.:p

You're more of a run and hide, quitter type, when your team loses. BTW I know you tried to hide after that embrassment one and done playoff loss, at home, again. Just couldn't let you try that again. Face the music. Did I call the one and done or did I call the one and done 😆😆😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅

I'm sure he cares. Amazing people are butthurt over this. Just show people still turn a blind eye to our country's dark and shaded past.
