That -$31M doesn't account for paying the practice squad, seven draft picks, or keeping the balance a few $M in black for injuries.

I would assume another $5-8M on top of that .

I can’t see Alexander or TA staying unless the agree to a whole new contract. Both are way overpaid and alone would bring us under the cap.

Alexander is already released and accounted for in the -$40M, Armstead is a $16M cap hit with a $9m dead money even if he played for free we still have $26M to shed and need another QB.

The important number to hit right now is the top 51. Only the top 51 contracts need to fall within the adjusted cap next week. Other moves can be made later when the remainder of the players come into play. We also have a 2020 rollover of unused cap which increases our available cap this year.

This is where we stand current against the cap according to Spotrac.com:

Our remaining options that free up more cap space than they consume in dead money are very slim. We may have to go under 52 players to get under the 52 cap ceiling.
