Movie about Drew and Payton starts filming next month
 

Got a call today and was hired to work on a new movie coming out. After some prodding I found out it’s a movie about Payton and Brees, the reopening of the dome through our journey to the SB. Don’t know when they wrap up production but they are going to need some extras I’m sure. If you are into that sort of thing there are several casting companies in the New Orleans area where you can sign up. I’ll keep y’all posted. Probably a B movie but should be fun to watch none the less.

I know he wasn't around for the Brees-Payton years but put in a word that I can play Kyle Turley.

I'd love to be in that movie. My twin brother and I have been extras on a couple of films and a TV show. In the heat of the night was filmed where I lived in Hammond La. I'm in!

Hell yes. We can always be extras! Although The more I think about it I’d make a better Jim Mora than Benson. I’m versatile though.

I'm not really interested in seeing such a movie yet because I don't think the story is over. Brees' culture and graciousness is still going to linger with the Saints for some years even thought he's no longer playing, and we've still got Payton. I don't think the franchise is going to go back into the wilderness just yet (and for the most part, hopefully never will again).

I’m assuming it’s less about the franchise as a whole under Payton and more about their arrival to the city after Katrina. Rising from the ashes and Going from The Aints to a championship team that helps in the rebuilding of the city or some such. Post Brees can be part 2.

Read today it’s a Netflix movie titled The Home Team (could just be the “working title) and the dude from King of Queens and Mall cop will play the role of Payton... I don’t see any Academy Awards being thrown it’s way but it should be fun to watch.

I'm reading all sorts of comments from idiots claiming that it is wrong to be glorifying the purposeful injuring of opposing players. What dumba$$es. Hopefully this movie will dispel some of those lies. I read that Payton was given the screenplay and he made several corrections before returning it for production. I hope it makes Goodell out to be the idiot that he actually is.

I’m guessing it will be very loosely based on Payton. Probably be some goofy-ass movie about a disgraced coach having to go coach a kids team where all kind of wacky hijinks take place a la The Mighty Ducks.

Wait and see. People thought Tom Hanks was nothing but a silly comedic actor based upon his early roles. The same with Robin Williams. The same with Jim Carrey.

Would he need to? I'm not sure if the weight has anything to do with what they will be trying to convey. Hopefully it has more to do with the improper railroading using false claims. Queen Latifah could play the Payton role and that aspect wouldn't change.

I don't really see grit and determination when I see Kevin James. He's not stern enough to suit me. I just don't see him putting Payton's presence on the field to create that distinctive impression. It'll probably be geared towards kids. I'm not sure what market they are looking at?

However Michael Keaton who played Mr. mom was the best Batman, so you never know. :banana:

It is based upon the events surrounding the false accusations and the resulting suspension from what I am getting. Absolutely not a kids film.

It is easier for a comedic actor to do a serious part than it is for a dramatic actor to fill a comedy role.

I was listening to a Joe Rogan podcast talk about James the other day. Apparently he’s quite into MMA. Rogan said he was legit. Pretty high praise coming from Joe.

The Vicodin affair wasn't Payton. It was Joe Vitt. When the story first came out that a high ranking Saints official had been caught taking Vicodin from the medical cabinet some people incorrectly speculated that it was Payton with no proof. It was later discovered that it was Vitt and he had been caught on security cameras red-handed. This is one of the worst things about the internet. The incorrect rumors that won't die.

Apr 15, 2013 — Assistant coach Joe Vitt reportedly entered a pre-trial diversion program in the Vicodin case.

As for the movie, it appears it is only going to cover his time coaching his son's team in youth football.

Bingo! And during the 2009 season only two opposing players left the field and didn't return and neither were offensive players (the defense supposed had the bounties) and both of them suffered non-contact injuries. Pretty sorry execution of a Bounty System I would say, right.

I would like to see a Netflix movie featuring Kevin James as Matt Ryan in the Super Bowl attempting to protect a 28-3 lead against the Patriots. Ryan certainly looked like James on the field, athletically, in that 4th quarter. Tyler Perry could play Julio Jones. Maybe it could be a Freaky Friday, Big, or
being John Markovich type scenario where an actor or kid or someone switched into their bodies during the game and doesnt know how to
play football.

I don’t know the man personally obviously, but I would be careful about doubting James athletic ability. I’ve heard knowledgeable people tout his MMA skills and apparently he was a varsity halfback and captain of his high school wrestling team which also had future WWE star Mick Foley on it. Apparently serious back injuries caught up to him. I doubt he’s Paul Blart in real life.

P.S. His wife is a hottie too!
