Excellent video. Very impressed by his emotional maturity. He certainly comes across as a guy who understands the incredible opportunity he’s been given. I have a good feeling about it.

Great interview, It showed he was serious about the opportunity when he signed for vet minimum. He had a great chance to learn from one of the leagues best.

I certainly hope he can lead this team and be a consistently good player. He is a better pure passer than Taysom.

Agreed, probably a conversation better left between the two.

Actually never saw that side of Jameis, usually see him clowning around when the camera catches him. But I think Drew Brees can have that affect on you.

All the well spoken words in the world can’t make up for his lack of talent. There was a reason Hill replaced him. He is basically a qualified backup in case hill keeps his fumbling problem

Yeah, a number one overall pick with a 5,000 yard passing season and 34 Passing TDs sure indicates a lack of talent. Good to know you are pulling for him though 🙄

Did you forget the 34 ints? That’s not what the Saints need. You and I both know that.

Well, if nothing else at least he doesn't have 14 sexual misconduct lawsuits against him.

And glad to see he is trying to be the guy the organization needs off the field as well.

Edit: 16 lawsuits

It was 30 ints not 34, no I didn’t forget. That was his 5,000 yard 33 TD season. Plenty of QBs get by with a 16 TD 19 int season while throwing for 2,700 yards and no one says anything. Favre has a 24 Int season with only 19 TDs, but I guess he had no talent either, huh voodoo? Winston has never had a season with more INT than TD, there are Hall of Fame QBs that can’t make that claim. Get off your hate horse why don’t you and give the guy a chance.

Re: Nice words from Winston.

Brees threw 22 interceptions in 2010 and we still made the playoffs somehow.

If Jameis can just tone down the "trying to do too much" mentality, take what they D gives and throw in some deep shots, then I'm confident our D could give him some winnable games.

Boston Saint 03-24-2021 01:51 PM

Re: Nice words from Winston.

Upon a quick search, I found that if you compare TDs to Ints during a season, you will find:

Elway has a -7 season
Favre has a -9 season
Eli Manning has a -9 season
Roethlisberger has a -5 season

All SB winning QBs, Yet some people want to get hung up on a season where Winston was + 3 and proclaim him unable to be
An NFL starter. Am I predicting a HOF career?...No, but if someone says Winston doesn’t have the ability/talent to be a starting NFL QB then they are Crazy. Hell, he’s got more upside Now than Drew did when he first got here!

At this point I believe that Winston gives us our best chance of winning. It's hard to put his history behind him and give him a fresh start, but that's what I'm doing now. You can't fix stupid. But you can correct bad decision making. I'm pulling for him!

And why did the interceptions basically double in 2019? Bruce Arians. That's why.

Deshaun Watson has more pending sexual misconduct lawsuits filed against him than Winston has interceptions in 3 of 5 full seasons. It could become 5 of 5, Watson likes some Baskin Robbins.

Forgive me,30 ints. And what was Tampa’s record that year? How well did he lead that team? Surely with all those yards and td’s they won the super bowl undefeated

Did we win the Super Bowl or go undefeated?

Tampa was 7-9 the year he threw 30 INTs and 33 TDs. Green Bay was 4-12 the year Favre three 29 INTs with only 20 TDs. So I guess that Favre guy REALLY sucks because he threw all those INTs and he had NO CHANCE of being a starting QB and was going to be a career backup because he threw a lot of INTs? Damn voodoo, you’ve convinced me! With reasoning like that why the hell does Winston even have a job in football at all? 🙄

The decision hasn't yet been made at QB. A contract was signed. There is still a little time until the season begins. I do not believe Winston will ever take us to the promised land, but it is only my opinion and everyone has one. That said, I am a Saints fan so I am pulling for us. My dislike for Winston, will never blind my love for the Saints. Fortunately, he has been able to get over the past rape allegations, crotch grabbing allegations and crab leg stealing.

I want to make it clear, I don’t expect Winston to lead the Saints to the promised land either. But I would say that if they had Wilson, Mahomes, Brady or any other QB for that matter. We all witnessed 15 years of one of the top 5 QBs ever to play lead our favorite team and we were very fortunate to have things bounce our way and win one championship. 1/3 of the leagues teams have never won one. Many HOF QBs never won one. Many below average QBs with less than noteworthy careers (guys clearly less talented than Winston) have. Winning a SB is an awesome accomplishment that requires a lot of overall team talent and luck. But I can say when you look at all the Tollivers, Blakes, Shulers, Brooks, etc that the Saints have gone into the season with I am honestly more optimistic about Winston’s potential with the team than I was about any new Saints QB and that includes Brees coming to the team with his surgically repaired shoulder. If people like voodoo want to look at only one stat, declare him a loser and root against him, that is their right to do so. I choose to be a little more open minded.

Be careful about including luck as a factor in winning it all. ;)

Great point. Arians deserves little credit for the SB IMO Brady made him change the offense. Bowles turned the defense around in two years but really the last several games.

I agree. The Bucs and Brady overcame the handicap of Arians to win it all.

Because Tom is 43yo and couldn't do the things Arians had drawn up in the past that worked...

Remember, Sean Payton took four seasons to adjust, tweak the offense to Drew's abilities...
