I hope this hasn't already been posted. It is a great article about Katrina and how the Gulf Coast has only one thing left to hold on to: the Saints. This article seriously almost made me cry. It made me feel proud to be a Saint fan. Enjoy.

Deuce,

Thank you for posting that. I am deeply moved by what Fleming wrote. This team has to play well. I want to see them play well.

I question the engagement ring story though... I mean come on the guy could have been lying. I am starting to see it here in San Diego where, I saw some people posting for a place to stay since they have lost everything in New Orleans. San Diego did accept some evacuees but they are in shelters for the most part.

Well written -- lets face it -- the Saints are the only part of New Orleans still standing. Since we know that this disaster will be a made for TV movie someday wouldn't it be wonderful to have that happy magical ending where the Saints win the SuperBowl.

Thank you Deuce for posting this. We can all sit in our comfortable homes saying this might be true and this might not be true, but the truth is that there are a world of people willing to help out these evacuees. I myself have a family of 5 in my apartment from Lafitte. I don't need to check their id's. Even as dumb as I am I can tell someone who has been through a bad time.

This article tells me just how much the team cares about their town and people. Sure I hope they win every game, but if they don't....they certainly deserve a big hand for even showing up on Sundays. These guys have it pretty good to be able to replace the things they lost, but it's hard to replace everything. There are some things that cannot be replaced no matter how much money you have. Who's to say that these players haven't lost exactly that. It seems to me the one thing they haven't lost is their love for the city of New Orleans and it's people.

If I could attend every game, I would at least stand and applaud these guys for as long as I could. They certainly deserve it.

wow what a story. what good people we have on our team. what an excellent story.

BoudinSandwich 09-07-2005 04:32 PM

I hope the Saints cream the ever-loving crap out of the rest of the NFL. This is our season.

The city drowned in incredible disaster
while victims cried out for their master
to the rescue they game, behold
those honorable men in black and gold
they were all of whats left of the city's pride
with a brand new season on the rise
playing every game away from home
they strived and strived towards the endzone
and with all the pride and courage they could muster
they won the superbowl, those mother.....

Geaux Saints!
