Saints QB Jameis Winston Workout Video

I don't know if this workout will win QB Jameis Winston the starting job with the Saints, but it's interesting to watch for sure...

I don’t question is ability, I question his heart. Same thing with scam Newton. This goes a little way to winning me back. I still don’t think he starts lol

Very good workout.

I'm more inclined to see what Winston will do at training camp & if he's ready to become the #1 QB & to see if the off the field preparation has translated to on the field game.

I watched the video of all of those INTs he threw a couple of years back. Kinda looked like misreading defenses & trying to force (Bruce Arians) where he shouldn't. Those picks weren't necessarily accuracy "issues" though.

Again I'm curious to see what improvement(s) JW has made from sitting behind Brees & the coaching of SP.

I hope for a true QB competition and will be pulling for whomever wins the job. I do however hope whomever wins the job, is watched closely and if they struggle at all they are replaced. Don't want to witness another Brooks,
Delhomme fiasco where a healthy QB is on the bench while the other struggles.

This.

They both can throw the rock. Although Taysom obviously can run (and fumble). No doubt that Winston is probably a more "pure passer" if there is such a thing.

Thing is, the arguement for Winston being in the system again learning from DB and SP is legit. But in reality it rings true for Hill as well.

He's always been used as a utility player and a #3 QB. So an off season in an actual QB competition for the starting job could be interesting for both.

Guess we'll see what they do.

Based on college and NFL passing production so far in their careers, and what I’ve seen watching the 2 play the QB position in the NFL, I will be shocked if Hill beats out Winston. Unless Payton wants to shift his offense to a more running based approach like the Ravens with Jackson, there is little chance of Hill showing himself a better passing QB than Winston. It could happen of course because neither sucks, but if Hill wins out based on passing ability, I will buy every B&G member a beer! All you gotta do is come to Massachusetts to get it.

I'm looking forward to watching the show. Still believe Winston is the better QB, we'll just have to see.

This is likely the reason we will go with Winston. I'm not on the Winston band wagon but I'm always happy to see young man work hard and turn his life around. He may not be our future and I honestly don't believe that he's on the roster like Sean keeps saying that he is. Sean has become more open to the public but the loves misdirection like a magician. LOOK OVER HERE.....while I do my magic.

I honestly think SP is going to shock the world by going to a power football team. He kept the o line and has been drafting road graders the past few years. Almost like he knew what was the better option when drew retired. I would love to see us draft a qb in rd 1 but don’t reach. Keep that power run mindset and play dominant defense

The concept doesn’t bother me, I just don’t think Hill (or most other QBs) can avoid the injury that comes with this scheme.

A QB in round one? Rarely do more than two or three drafted QB's ever become a regular starter throughout history. If a QB falls to the Saints in round one it will likely be the sixth in line. Not a good use of a first round pick as the chances of being a bust are quite high.

I'd love to share that enthusiasm but that ain't happening on coach SP watch. Too many options on offense ... AK, Trautman, CGM, Deonte. Now with Taysom/Jameis under center, we could throw it even more in 2021.

BTW, I think Hill and Winston on the field at the same time will create serious mismatches for defenses in 2021.

Good tackles are plentiful in this draft even if we get a project aka zach strief late keep building

With our current QB's, unless someone grows by leaps and bounds this offseason, if we go pass heavy we're not going to have much success IMO.

Honestly with these two QB's I think Sean's message that he should be drilling into their heads is "don't be the hero, take a sack" especially when you're first and ten on the other team's 10 yard line and you are 5 seconds in to the play (as an example). I know everyone wants to see our QB's go through ALL progressions but in the beginning I'd like to Sean limit them to 3 at first and then Winston be prepared to take the sack/ Taysom take off running securing the ball. If they start flourishing then we can look for more.

Let's not forget that Winston has passed for 5000 yards and was second in the league in TD's in 2019. We are spoiled. Not many QB's in history have been able to handle the pass progression as well as Brees. If anyone.

Yeah, but the 30-30 thing is why they were 7-9 that year (add into that was it 12 fumbles? I forget, it was a lot) I know we're spoiled by Drew, my point is not ask too much of either him, or Taysom.

I'm curious to see if the Lasik eye surgery he got last year corrected his sight downfield. If he was playing all of his career prior fighting near-sightedness and still playing at a high level, we just may have found a discarded player that can ball.

I'm also confused about people on the board questioning his 'heart'. Exactly what are they referring to?

The 30 interceptions were an anomaly based upon the rest of his career. It was basically double the number of picks over his average. The common denominator was Bruce Arians.

I think they are referring to some of his college antics. He shoplifted some crab legs and created a disturbance in the school library that drew attention. Add that to his goofy “eating up wins” act and people have ammo to knock him.

My understanding is that he thought the butcher department was doing him a good and giving him the crabs on the house. Still dumb.

Then there's rape allegations Florida State Alum worked hard to sweep under the rug; then an assaulted a female uber driver, luckily his boy Ronald Darby alibied him...

Even though later upon discovery, Darby wasn't in the vehicle...

Lots of questions and some baggage for sure. We can only hope he learned from his shortcomings. Brees had lots of questions as well prior to signing with the Saints, not the same sort of course. Most were open-minded then. Maybe fewer are open-minded now for Jameis. We'll just have to wait and see how it all unfolds.

Winston is currently the Saints best option at QB. We'll have at least one season of Aaron Brooks 2.0 which I think is enough to get them to the playoffs and maybe win a playoff game.

If Winston can stop shoving his fingers in his mouth and acting like a child then maybe Saints fans will cut him a little more slack.

I've stated that I'm hoping that he turns the corner and behaves better and that I'm big on second chances. We've all fallen short of grace but receive it regardless.
