Same. Adebo looks like he's ready to have some fun...

Also like Payton Turner, he looks like a genuine person as well, can see how evaluators would be enamoured...

Landon Young definitely got the message across that he's ready to work; hope his ceiling matches the work ethic...

Re: New Orleans Saints 2021 NFL draft picks share messages to fans

Sean speaks in encrypted hints and he dropped why he liked Ian Book - his feet...

Just like wideouts, there are QBs who can pull it down and truck (Taysom), some are more quick than fast (Young Brees), some can do both (Mahomes)...

Went back and watch ND games and can see Book's mobility, but the concern is those plays were vs lesser talent as got smacked down by NFL-caliber DLs...

Will say this, Book does remind me of Chase Daniel, a lot. Sean now has his types that he likes and he definitely liked himself some Chase Daniel...

Chase Daniel's kids and widow will never have to work because of how much Sean Payton overpaid for him - and Chase was an undrafted free agent...

Re: New Orleans Saints 2021 NFL draft picks share messages to fans

  • A lot of throws off his back foot or throwing open shouldered, this results in inaccuracy and reduced velocity on his throws...

  • Capable, but not smart scrambler; often runs out of protection into trouble - this will get holding flags thrown vs his offensive linemen...

  • Very inconsistent, even erratic in his field vision; I've seen better film on him, but he was facing inferior opponents...

  • Facing a defense like Bama with multiple NFL-caliber players, despite supported by NFL-caliber players, he was ineffective...

I'm curious, why are you writing about Daniel as if he was deceased?

Turner & Mr. Mansfield (Adebo) should see plenty of action as rookies.

Haven't you learned yet? ND can't hang with the big boys, no mater how good the QB is.

Saw something kinda funny/dumb on PFT with Florio this morning. He and Simms were hacking on the Saints first two picks. They pointed out that they could have/should have taken Edge rusher Greg Rousseau from Miami. They commented how big a guy he is.

Funny thing is he lists at 6’ 7” and 265. Turner lists 6’ 6” 269. He doesn’t sound any more massive than the guy the Saints chose.

Simms and Florio are hacks. Perhaps the Saints didn't like Rousseau's character, or his attitude, or his style of play, or the way he parted his hair. They clearly put time and thought into Turner and didn't want to take the chance that he wouldn't be there at pick 60. That's what I love about how the Saints draft. They go get who they want and don't listen to the meaningless outside noise.

Not sure if you listened to any of the pre draft interviews with our coaches … specifically Coach Ryan Nielsen. His emphasis on selecting edge rushers in the draft was size/length.

Davenport 6'6, Tanoh Kpassagnon 6'7, Payton Turner 6'6, Cam J 6'4, David O 6'3 etc ... long, tall, rangy guys that will be able to shut down the run game.

That is a big D line. I like this strategy and approach.

Simms / Florio are haters.

Wouldn't count out Pete Werner and Kawaan Short playing, contributing significant snaps right away - well, the need for their skill sets is definitely there...

Even Landon Young may be called upon as, well, Mr. Glass may be back this season...

You're right. As a second rounder, Pete needs to see the field a lot as a rookie.

Smash provided a video from Payton post draft and he stated that PW will see a lot of action at WILL but could also see some time at MIKE.

Camp awaits.

Oh and I think you meant Kawaan Baker ;).

Didn't like having to use our first round pick on Turner, felt that if we could, we should've moved back and taken him in R2, P33-P40 range...

But I'd much prefer Turner to Rousseau...

Turner strikes me as a much smarter prospect based on interviews, vocabulary diction, higher than a fifth grade speaking level...

Turner also spoke in terms of team and we and excitement - some of the very things I use to differentiate prospects...

It takes two parties to trade, as you know. Besides, there was no guarantee he'd still be there at that range. Edge rushers were taken picks #30, #31, and #32.

Turner vs Rousseau will be good talking points …

3 years from now. My money is on our guy :p

Like many of the talking heads, they have their sources and part of that gig means pushing their agent sources' clients...

Sean and Mickey definitely have agents they do business with and some they're not so inclined - that's why certain players don't sign or are not even approached...

Florio saw an opportunity in becoming the Drudge of NFL News as he wasn't getting it done as an agent; good for him...

He's had some embarrassing moments to be first, like reporting the premature death of Terry Bradshaw, but he's good for basic reporting, awful at analysis...

Some of those criticisms I agree with - particular the throwing mechanics needing a bit of refinement.

I actually like his scrambling. Unless it's a designed run, he seems to let the play develop and often scrambles at the right time to extend a play, or to salvage a play, a little like Elway. He doesn't scramble randomly like Deshaun Watson or Vick.

Seen a lot of criticisms of him holding the ball, but I view that as a positive. He's being selective and not putting the ball in risky spots, and he's looking for the high percentage completion.

He shows poise and good footwork. Very rarely see him get rattled. He can be trusted. That mental side of the game is underrrated and probably the main reason why he caught my attention.

Most concerning criticism I’ve read is he doesn’t have a strong enough arm. Maybe that is unfair IDK.

Re: New Orleans Saints 2021 NFL draft picks share messages to fans

Not a lot of talk about 2nd rounder Pete Werner

Listening to his interview, he's serious about football & understands the position. Playing both WILL & MIKE at "The Ohio State" increases his chances of seeing the field early. VERSATILITY.

More importantly he's durable and you can count on him to suit up and play at a high level.

Good luck.

They said the same thing about that San Diego QB, Drew Brees.

Good luck.

He seemed like a violent tackler based on the highlights.

Might be fixable, he makes a lot of throws open shoulder and/or off his back foot...

He's developed a lot of bad habits...

This is true. Tom House (pitching and QB guru) says that a QB's power comes from their feet and an efficient transference of that energy through the body in stages and through the fingers.

Kind of sounds like a whip transferring energy.

The way it is described it is very much the same. Every pivot point comes into play. Foot, ankle, knee, hip, torso, shoulder, elbow, wrist, knuckles, and finally fingertips.
