Likely Cuts We Should Target

Who are the players on the fringe on other rosters or vets who will be cut to get under the limited cap this year? I choose to watch only Saints games and rugby is a Saturday event so I don't get to watch much college ball. Toss out the names of some players we could do a search on that you like who might be available on the cheap. We generally do pretty well with these players and find a couple of more nuggets each year. Who do you want that might be available?

If the Falcons cut Julio he could be a serviceable #2. Maybe he would sign a vet minimum deal with us as revenge.

Not that I have an issue with either.

That depends on how much money they want. At a vet minimum, a guy with some experience is worth a look. For depth if nothing else.

Adebbo will likely be our starter rotating with p rob when his old asre gets tired every other play. We will have to hold on to our beer for a rough start but no worries on offense for me I think the train keeps rolling

Crickets chirping. The boards are quiet lately. I'm dying for some Saints info. I'm dying here.

If that is in fact the case, I hope Mr. Mansfield takes his lumps early on as a rookie. Based on the current CB situation, I'd say Adebo has a great shot at starting.

Kris Richard and training camp awaits.

Don't tempt me. I'm just bored enough to want to start a poll even at Guido's expense. ;)

I doubt anyone here has any idea on who might get cut from other rosters at this point. Thus the silence.

Shhh.....don't tell anyone besides us. We don't want the whole world to know that. They might lose interest.

I believe that our cap position makes us more of a likely cut-er than a pick-er-up-er.

We may be $833k under the Top-51 but we are $15.2M over the total that we have to be under to start the season.

The draft class hasn't been signed which is expected to effect the cap as follows.
$5.1M Top-51
$6.4M Total

Looooong story short the following still has to happen
$4M in space to sign the draft class and stay under Top-51
Another $4M-$5M in space to sign a practice squad before the season starts.

Do those things and you still need to trim $15M to start the season as TOP-51 ends just after the last preseason game, then we have to be under a fully loaded cap.

I have a feeling a blood letting is going to happen.

That's going to be an issue. Virtually every contract that counts as a material hit against the 2021 cap has been previously restructured and carries a dead money hit equal to or greater than the player's 2021 salary. Cutting or trading any of these players would not help matters. Ramczyk, Marcus Williams, and Lattimore are the only three remaining that can result in solid cap clearing with restructure/extensions. I believe they are waiting to see what is going to be required before making those moves.

Agreed. I've been trying to point out what was coming for a few months and either I did not articulate it well enough or people didn't want to hear it.

Loomis is going to have to take out the Ouija board in 2021, his normal magic just wont cut it.
