The Top Free Agent Cornerback Targets for the Saints

FA’s don’t want to come here anymore. If we hadn’t lost so many pieces FA’s would be flocking to us but we aren’t that team anymore. The good ones want to go to a team that has a stacked roster and a legit shot at a SB. We have neither of those. Hopefully we can enjoy one game in the playoffs but I’m not holding my breath. Watching who steps up and who looks like they could wind up being a major player for our team over the next couple of years will be the entertaining part.

Nelson or Breeland would be my pick. The others are over the hill and would demand much more money.

Put all your money on Marcus Williams when he was replaceable

Janoris Jenkins was critical
Terrible to let him go

Richard Sherman is really the only logical choice. He would be perfect to help coach up Paulson Adebo.

The Saints have been paying top QB money at the position for years now. They also have a top RB contract and a top WR contract on the books and will soon have a top OT and/or top CB money to contend with. Those things add up for a good team that has bee in in the playoff/SB discussion for over a dozen years. I don’t think anything has changed about the team to make it so that FAs don’t want to come here. If there was cap room I bet players would love to come play with AK, CGM and company under Coach Payton in front of fans as awesome as Saints fans are. It’s not that they don’t want to come
or that the franchise can’t attract them; it’s that they can’t fit underneath the cap at the moment.

I don't know who we'll bring in but I hope we bring in someone else besides the players currently on the roster. Another veteran back there would make me a lot more comfortable going into the season. Injuries happen and we need better depth to stay competitive.

If we don't bring someone else in it could be a long season watching the secondary get burned. We have decent safety play but the opposition will pick on the corner with the least experience or PFF rating like they do every year when the #2 corner isn't playing.

He is one of the worst rated cb’s left. He has little to nothing left in the tank. There is a reason why he is still left out there

Dude, Saints have always had an uphill fight to win over NFL free agents...

Schools suck unless you're paying for Isidore Newman School, Académie du Sacré-Cœur, Jesuit HS, St. Martin's Episcopal School, De LaSalle HS et al...

Crime is rampant with an always underfunded police force that's been mismanaged since the 70s...

A corrupt Sewerage & Water Board that's taken in billions in Federal Aid (leaving nothing for surrounding parishes) and still hasn't fixed pumps since H. Katrina...

And the city has not had competent leadership and vision since the 50s, starting with Moon Landrieu it's been a revolving-door asshat clown show...

There's few places for millionaire athletes to truly get and and spend their money as there is in other cities...

And the only semi-successful recruiter has been Payton; and it's a mixed-bag with the Brees Signing (best in NFL history) being his saving grace in that regard...
