I grew up watching Paul Orndorff on Mid-South wrestling. Not exactly a household name to some, but he had his day with the WWF with Hogan and Piper and the rest.

RIP Mr. Wonderful.

Never knew him to be a Saint. Will have to look up his career stats.

Smash, he didn't pass his physical, so he was never under contract. He was a FB out of Univ of Tampa...

Wiki says he didn’t pass his physical in KC either, but he played minor league ball. Makes you wonder about the NFL physicals back then, or if he was on some kind of sauce.

+1.

Mid-South wrestling ... man now that is old school at it's finest.

Ted DiBiase, The Super Destroyer, Ernie Ladd, KK Bondy, Paul Orndoff. My grandma would strangle you if you even thought about turning the TV set when Mid South wrestling was on.

Good times. R.I.P. Paul

I used to go to the TV tapings at the Irish McNeils Boys club on the Fairgrounds in Shreveport and I can see myself on a lot of the videos.

That was back when wrestling wasn't quite so choreographed. I was always a big fan of Roddy Piper. I even liked him as an actor. Quite a few wrestlers made good actors. The trend continues today with the Rock and John Ceena. However, watching them wrestle nowadays just doesn't have the same appeal as the good old days.

They Live was a surprisingly good movie and had several memorable scenes. What a great plot.

I watched a documentary the other day about Roddy. It was really interesting. Looked like a guy who would have been very fun to know in real life.

Some of my other favs were the Hart Foundation, Lex Luger, and of course...The Road Warriors! I remember forking over about 25 bucks to my pop to pay for the cable bill to see Hawk and Animal take on the Kolovs at Summerslam! That was a lot of cash back then !

Dick Murdock and Killer Karl Kox had "The Brain Buster". Also Grizzly Smith with the Bear Hug. Saw quite a few in Ferriday, La. in matches. Danny Hodge and a few in Natchez, MS. I was a pup then.

As smart as Dad was, and mean Einstein smart, was amazed how much He enjoyed watching MidSouth, especially with me Lil Brother...

Knew it was fake, He knew it was fake, but as He told me as I get old enough when I wanted Bird and the Celtics and He and Brother wrestling -

Look you know some of these Ladies have fake ones, don't you? Are they still not fun to watch and enjoy?

So I taped the Celtics and we'd watch wrestling and Dad would regal us how he'd seen it before with Gorgeous George back in his day...

Gosh, those were great times when thinking about it now...
