NO is somewhat odd when it comes to hurricane tracks and which way will do the most damage. Because of its location, NO takes more damage when it's on the western side of the storm due to storm surge and the storm being weakened as it comes on land when it's on the other side. Most places take the most damage when they are in the eastern part of the eyewall.

Just lost power in Old Mandy. But have no fear, I have a whole house generator. I heard a transformer buzz, huff and puff and go out. My area has 463 customers, as per Cleco.

Internet works great.

All of the work done since Katrina really reduces the affects of storm surge on New Orleans now. A direct hit could have been bad wind wise, it's not looking too bad so far in the city. However, east is getting slammed by those winds and the LaPlace area is getting the surge out of the lake bigtime. The irony is that many people went to LaPlace from the city to escape the storm.

Power out for weeks for many. All Entergy transmission lines are FUBAR, presumably fell in the river.

LaPlace got Katrina'd. Real sad.

Got nervous for a while as it made a right turn, with Old Mandy as a bullseye. But it went back. We still got way stronger winds than anticipated . Glad it's over.

We're good here in Old Mandy. Whole house generator works great.
