Drew Brees
First off, I like his commentary very intelligent. He needs a little polish, but that's to be expected. He has good chemistry with the NBC crew and I love his self depreciating comment on how he couldn't deliver the deep ball last year. Secondly, I'm glad we now have a voice in the MSM, too many haters have always had their voice. We've never had a Saint with this loud a voice. I don't expect him to always to have our back, but I'm sure when it's reasonable he will.

Re: Drew Brees
I'm sure Drew is doing fine, but his stint as a commentator comes at a time when I am watching less sports commentary than ever before (unless you include some independent media on Youtube like ScooterMcGruder or UrinatingTree). I have a new stereo receiver that has the 5.1 surround sound controls but only have 2 bookshelf speakers, and if I hit the right button on my remote I get just the stadium sounds and absolutely NO commentary. You cannot know how wonderful it was to watch yesterday's game with no Aikman or Buck!!!

I still don't get the big deal with announcers. None of them bother me at all.
 Sometimes I think people just want a reason to complain about something. :D |

Sometimes they themselves, the commentary TeeBee people, can't tell they are doing it, but it comes through in droves. Troy Aikman has to be aware of it though. Maybe that's one of the reasons why Tony Romo is shining as one of the commentary TeeBee people, as his is so contrasting to the other peasants manning the booths. What's is aggravating to me is the continued poor camera work with bad angles or lack of replays on certain plays or flags that were thrown. Whether it's the crew in the truck that didn't do its job by cutting to the right zoomed in view in frame or what, it's unclear. It's way more noticeable on an 85 inch TeeBee. |
Re: Drew Brees
Brees is better than Rodney Harrison :p.
That is all. |

The silence is kind of weird at first, but really it makes the TV experience more like watching the game live in the stands. It was cool to hear the crowd reactions and who-dat chants a lot easier without the audio on the announcers cranked over it, and you can even hear the PA announcer. College football so you can hear the crowd and bands, even better. Less is more IMO, the TV commentary, even if it's good, is a lot of audio overload. Edit: I forgot the best part. Almost all the super loud brickwalled audio from the commercials is gone! Just makes for a more peaceful experience. |
