Statement Game
When New Orleans came out crisp against the lifeless Packers I started screaming that this was a Statement Game and I didn't stop until it was over.
We were a running team from kickoff. No one believed that Sean Payton was going to run the ball this season after replacing Drew with Winston. I Believed! I just want to say I Told You So! :p I see why we didn't bring in additional receivers even though everyone was sure we needed another WR to fill out the roster. By the way, Tre' Quan who? TJJ is a baller and Murray was made expendable by him. Juwan Johnson looks like he has stickum on his hands. Adebo is the real deal and was glued to his receiver all night long. The O-line looked even better with Ruiz at center. I know it was a small sample size but still.... We got serious pressure on Rodgers all night long while sending only four players with no need to blitz. Oh yeah, I was so very wrong anbout Winston and I'm thawing out frozen crow to have for dinner. |

Re: Statement Game
This was a statement game, in that this game showed that under Coach SP we still have that attitude and fire we showed so long ago in the Gleason block game, playing for a post-hurricane city. Putting aside the Brees record breaker games, this was easily a top-10 all time Saints regular season game.
That being said, it is one week, and we won't be able to play this Wisconsin Badgers like run heavy style week in, week out. Pretty soon an opponent will stack the box and dare Winston to beat them throwing 40+ times and hope to force us into mistakes, much as we forced the Packers into mistakes with their passing game. We need to be flexible and be ready. |
Re: Statement Game
The game was a world away from what I was anticipating never thought the
Saints could roll over the Pack and Arrogant Aaron. |

Re: Statement Game
We now have the inside track for tiebreakers versus Green Bay. That could come in handy for playoff seeding.

Re: Statement Game
I'm still walking around on cloud nine. I'm not sure that I've ever felt this good about a game outside of the Superbowl.

Sean is smart, adding a speed guy like Stills to complement Winstons big arm, could be explosive. Smith can’t stay healthy and when he is on the field, never seems to be open. I’ve never liked his stiff route running. Plus, he’s never had the best hands. Bye |
