Jameis Winston has a knee injury but practices fully

The Saints had a surprise addition to their practice report Wednesday: Quarterback Jameis Winston has a knee injury.

Winston, though, was a full practice participant.

I've got a knee. I've also got an elbow...and a hip...and one finger on each hand. I can still play my guitar standing up. Because I'm one tough son of a :censored:

Rub some dirt on it and get back out there...

What concerns me is that he may be crippled too high for crutches.

Considering the pounding he took in the Panthers game I wouldn't be surprised if his knee is a bit banged up.

Gonna give a not-so-popular opinion here. As fans we are all still in some form of a grieving stage about not having Brees. Some of us have blinders on and wear saints colored glasses in acceptance hoping Winston will be our next QB. Some of us are in denial and won’t give Winston a fair chance.

I've been clear that I'm hopeful that Winston turns out to be a great QB and will give him the benefit of the doubt until I'm either proven right or wrong. He just doesn't seem to be a bright guy. But for what it's worth, apparently Marino wasn't very bright also.

He didn't have to think in Tampa he was just told to sling it. That doesn't take much thought.

That's Bruce Arians for you. Brady came in and basically told Arians not to get in his way and took over.

And that is probably the only reason Arians still has a job and a SB title.

Winston is not a "cerebral QB." He's got skill. And he's athletic. I don't want to call him dumb. He's just not the QB that is gonna make the reads like Brees. He probably relies more on instinct. He's obviously not as serious. Brees was all business. Like a coach on the field.

This is exactly why we would be better off with Taysom. I don't think Jameis is bad or anything, I just think he has a very high ceiling. He has a quick mind, he runs well, and throws bullets. I don't think he does a bad job at choosing the right receivers, but he does throw the ball too damn hard. I think this is correctable with in game reps. I just think Winston is missing something that is required to be at the top of the NFL hierarchy.

Re: Jameis Winston has a knee injury but practices fully

We certainly were spoilt with Brees. He was able to diagnose pre-snap and if coverage changed, he'd go through 4 reads in about 2 seconds. That's a special ability.

I don't think Taysom or Jameis read the game well enough to be a long term starter. If Kamara and the run game get shut down, neither Taysom or Jameis are going to win the game I don't think.

I think we need to draft a QB after this season.

To be fair, having a cerebral QB who takes on such a heavy role of leadership is a rare thing. A Brees or Peyton Manning or Brady or Elway just doesn't come along all too often. There are guys like Aikman or Favre that are in the Hall of Fame and great in their own way yet are not this type of QB. Need to evaluate Winston for who he is.

Shall we trade for BDJ Joe Burreaux? :bng:

We're 2-1 with a bunch of key players out.
Let's take care of the G-Men tomorrow and sink RiverBoat Ron next week and if all goes well we should be 4-1.
Jameis will be alright after all there is no one who can fill Drew's shoes.

One championship in over a decade and a half. A championship that the defense deserves way more of the credit(Tracy Porter). Should’ve accomplished more. Sorry in advance for my not so popular opinion. Porter deserves a statue.

The way the Saints wasted Brees is criminal; the Saints should have at least 4 more SP appearances, if not wins; I wonder how many times that has crossed his mind.

Out of all of the Saints playoff loses in the Payton-era, I can't think of any that were because of the offense.

That's why I keep saying to lay it all on SP. And he needed to know the rule book like BB. The latter point would've given us two SB berths right there.

Whilst I agree that Brees' prime years were wasted with bad defenses, I think there are a few playoff losses that fall on the offense. However I think it's all predicated on how you look at things.

In my opinion, the 2013 hawks loss and the 2020 Bucs ones definitely fall on the offense. 2013 Hawks I'm not too mad about as they had the number 1 D, we were away from home and they were the eventual SB champs.

2020 bucs one whilst they were also SB champs, the Offense put the D in some really bad spots and 3 or 4 turnovers on offense, you're never going to win a playoff game like that. Salt in the wound was that we demolished them twice and then looked scared at home in the playoffs against their D.

2011 vs 49ers is a tough one, I do blame the offense for turning the ball over 4 times, but then I blame GW and the D for blowing a miraculous comeback, one that may not have been needed, had the offense not turned the ball over so much.

Probably my main point, we never seem to get a full team effort in the playoffs. When one unit does well, the other falters.

I was re-watching the game last night and Winston was definitely limping a little early on in the game.

I agree with all of Dat.
I’m not gonna mention Brady, Rodgers or PManning. How many SB’s would Stafford, R Wilson, Ryan or even Eli have if they played in this Saints offense during their careers. I say 2 minimum.
