Re: Why Jameis Winston is STILL Saints best QB option
I guess it depends upon who viewed him as what between Payton and Carmichael. Was it Pete or Sean's feeling he could be a starting QB?

I doubt he would have tried to run through all those defenders if Payton hadn’t had him on such a short leash. Hell he doesn’t even have the support of the fans here. I really don’t see anything about our organization that is more attractive than Pittsburgh. |

I mean there are stories like that every year or three. Maybe we find that diamond in the rough.

Yep - right on time. What's your source this time speedo?
NFL Contracts for dummies? He posted it so fast he had to go back and make multiple edits, which confirms all he's doing is a nice google search followed by some re-wording so he can tell himself how smart he is. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Why Jameis Winston is STILL Saints best QB option
Something else people are missing is what went through Jameis Winston's head on 22 November 2021..
"***k New Orleans" Wouldn't you think the same thing? After all, New Orleans gave Winston two single year ****ty deals then gave Taysom Hill a 4 year cow. If Loomis or Allen called me my reply would be ***k you, ***k your lack of faith and loyalty. I will make my own gumbo in Pittsburgh or maybe Indianapolis. |

As for the scenario you describe I don’t see why Winston would be pissed. He wouldn’t have come back for second time if he had hard feelings. He was clearly awarded the starting job and would certainly have been rewarded with a new contract had he not been cheap shotted by the bucks. I guess I must have missed it if he was upset and said “F New Orleans”. |

The short of it is yes I understand the ‘close to home aspect’ which is definitely in our favor. On the playbook familiarity I’ll write more later when I have time. I saw your question on Franchise Tag and they can but the problem is cap space and that tag being a one year all in hit. Loomis would have to restructure his azz off if that’s the best use of the tag. QB Tag is $28.5MM this year |

Re: Why Jameis Winston is STILL Saints best QB option
Before Payton left I thought the Saints would likely remain JW preferred destination, but that may no longer be the case, so we'll see what happens.
March 16th ….it gets real around the league. |

Re: Why Jameis Winston is STILL Saints best QB option
Not that I’m saying I want them to do it, but Winston could get franchise tagged should the team wish I believe.
That may give the team a bit of incentive/leverage in their path forward. |
