As much as I admire what Winston has overcome I still don’t think he’s a long term answer. Maybe I’m wrong or maybe it’s part of their cap management plan by acquiring young players on a rookie salary. Winston develops them and then go for a Qb in two years when his contract is up. The timing would be right cap wise as you wouldn’t have to shell out as big money contracts within the span of two seasons. Assuming they all earn it.

In a sense, I see Mike McCarthy and Payton as the “same” HC. Something tells me when Mike is gone, Jerry and Stephen will hire from the college ranks. They’ve tried these old school guys and it hasn’t exactly worked out. |
