Sleeper Pick

Alright. Time to agitate the forums and get this site moving before the draft.
Who's your sleeper pick this weekend? Admittedly, I know less about this draft class than any draft class from the past 30 years so I'll go with the guy I reported on in the "2022 NFL Draft" thread:

Keep an eye on Boise State WR Khalil Shakir. I saw him play yesterday against San Diego State and the kid is solid.

I actually quite like the look of Shakir. Highlights well on YouTube videos

By sleeper do you mean the surprise player you mean will end up. sing a stud? Or sleeper guy the Saints end up picking unexpectedly?

Which DE that should be a second or third rounder will the Saints pick in the first round?

You're correct that the term is open for interpretation. I was aiming for a 2nd or 3rd day pick that ends up being a solid contributor in the league over the next 5-10 years. Shoot.. next season!

But certainly, interpret the question any way you'd like. My thirst for discussion here is growing and we've hit a lull. :chug:

Okay, I'll play. Here's a player I saw a lot of this season because of my allegiance with NC State, WR Emeka Emezie. He became the all-time Wolfpack leader in receptions this season. He seemed to make the big play every time the team needed it.

Re: Sleeper Pick

Curious if DE George Karlaftis or DT Jordan Davis fall to the Saints in Round 1...

But I'm with Major, if QB Matt Corrall, Ole Miss is gone in R2, Pick 49 as he should be, FS Jaquan Brisker, Penn State on the board might be irresistible...

Re: Sleeper Pick

I’ll take Brian Robinson Jr for both meanings

OL and WR are defo more important for me. We can't go DE again

Re: Sleeper Pick

My sleeper picks are in the first round. At #16 we take Trevor Penning, OT from Northern Iowa and at #19 we take Breece Hall, RB from Iowa State. Penning fits the mold that the Saints organization has built for every position. He's big, intelligent, fast and only gave up only one sack in 654 plays last year! The guy will be our day one starter. Special K could be gone for a while and that's a risk the Saints won't take at running back this year. Hall gives the Saints another weapon on offense and with Hill at TE, Thomas and Smith at WR (Thomas will make everyone better) if Special K does play we're going to have a very good year!!!

Re: Sleeper Pick

WR David Bell from Purdue. He pretty much carried that offense at most times. Obviously the NFL is harder but I think he has the desire and ability. IMO his ceiling is Stefon Diggs.

In which round do you select him?

Seems like Bell will land in round 3-5 range.

Re: Sleeper Pick

I'm thinking later round RB for a sleeper pick that could end up being a player. Saints have had such a good record of finding undrafted running backs that become an integral part of the team.

Today is the start of the building blocks for the organization as well as our predictions for the upcoming season and beyond.....Smells nice like the first day of summer....

Re: Sleeper Pick

Some sleeper guys Iowa safety, Zaquandre White, Rachaad White, the CB from Sam Houston St, Romeo Doubs, Lucas Krull, Troy Anderson, RB from FIU

Re: Sleeper Pick

I can’t see anything but DT, WR, or OT with the first pick. As bad as I would want a qb we are set for the next two years. Give JW some protection or weapons

voodooido 04-28-2022 03:52 PM

Re: Sleeper Pick

But if we are talking late round sleeper picks, I could see the saints grabbing Miami of Ohio safety Sterling weatherford. He’s a big dude who is raw and could play dog on runs. 6’4 and 235 is a very large safety

Re: Sleeper Pick

I’m thinking, if the Saints still have Corral available in the 2nd round they will take him! He doesn’t really fit the personality profile because he really likes to party, but he’s a very good QB and could be the future! Remember, the Jets had a big mouth and party happy QB and he predicted they would win a Super Bowl and they did!

CheramieIII 04-28-2022 05:08 PM

Re: Sleeper Pick

And I also believe that you don’t have sleeper picks after the second round! Just sayin!!!

A party animal QB is a bad fit for a city with the French Quarter? Am I reading this wrong?
