I wish we would have traded Armstead earlier and got something really good for him.

Yes, that would have been nice, but trading requires a partner. I can't recall any other teams being mentioned as having any interest in a trade for him. I can see their philosophy as why trade when he'll eventually become available via free agency?

We didn't really try to trade him. Payton was in love with him. We could have traded him an offseason or 2 ago if we really wanted to, we would have been able to find a partner. OL is always been sought after, particularly LT. He was rated as the #71 player in the league going into 2021. We could have gotten some good draft picks for him. He is a great player when healthy, but he's particularly prone to injuries in the shoulder and pectoral region.

Perhaps we could have gotten some picks for him back then, but we wouldn't have had him and thankfully we are remaining in win now mode. Armstead played in 29 of 32 games in the two season prior to this past season. Why trade a player who is producing for unproven picks? I believe hopes were high going into 2021 not knowing how injuries were to devastate the team at every level.

I definitely like this kids mean streak and pancake abilities but I wonder how much success he’ll have with grown ass NFL DE’s

I see one of the problems here.... RUIZ is too short? :D
