Brees coming back

In an interview he said he may come back to football. Wonder if he would serve as a back up, a starter or go to another team. I'm sure he sees the wr core we have now and dreams he would of had that when he was playing.

Brees isn't coming back to play professional football.

Besides, he's done.

That’s an interesting point and I think you are correct. You specifically said WRs. But just to do a comparison, let’s take a look at what Brees had to throw to during one of his best yardage seasons vs what’s on paper for the Saints now:

Graham vs Thomas. That’s a wash IMO
Colston va Landry Again, that’s a wash
Meacham vs Olave. Both Young first round draft picks. We shall see.
Sproles/Thomas vs Kamara. Edge Kamara but hit by much.
Moore vs Callaway/Smith. Wash

Just thoughts off the top of my head.

He also said he's considering joining the pickle ball league...so I'm pretty sure he was being tongue in cheek with the football remark.

Maybe he’s joining the pickle ball league as an announcer ?

As stated in the other thread, he can't chuck the ball past 20 yards, certainly not the deep ball like Jameis can. Defenses would just crowd the line as before. His quick release and decisions and a great asset, but he simply can't take a whole season anymore and is spent by the time the playoffs come around.

Mebbe he comes back as a coach?

Maybe, IMO he's not a big enough doosh to fit in with Florio & Sims comfortably.

If Seattle will give us any picks I will take them. Brees arm and Lockett + Metcalf as deep threats would be an interesting combo.

The media can act like WWE at times. They took his comment and ran with it. Brees is probably already planning his next business venture.

Drama.

The only "coaching" I see Brees doing is for his second-oldest - Bowen. Only 12 but is super competitive like his dad.

In all fairness he had other injuries too. Maybe a year off has allowed him to heal overall.

This ^^^

The media is so starved for clicks that they try to turn everything into news. Brees just had shoulder surgery last month so even if he was serious about football (which he clearly wasn't) then he would be ready this year anyway.

It all comes down to Brees wanting to do game broadcasts and NBC only having a single crew with the one game per week with Cris Collinsworth staying on as the sole color commentator.

He could walk in off the streets and start any given Sunday compared to what we have

No he can't & Brees is done. Under no circumstances is he remotely interested in suiting up at age 43 to have 300 + lb man chase, hit, and sack him for 4 quarters of NFL competition. End of an era, the book is closed. Father time is undefeated.

He's not returning to play football. Period. It's the off-season. The media will take any story and run with it, hoping that it sticks.

Whether you want to accept it or not, coach Dennis Allen is team Jameis Winston for 2022.

Re: Brees coming back

"I think it was a comment made in jest, and we certainly haven't had any conversations in that regard," Allen said.

Allen had a follow-up question that asked if Brees could still do it.

"I don't really want to live in those hypothetical worlds right now. We'll see where it all goes, but certainly he caused a lot of interest, that's for sure."

General manager Mickey Loomis said he didn't see it either, and also hasn't talked to Brees. It's hard envisioning this scenario playing out, but certainly makes for a fairy tale type of scenario. For the foreseeable future, this is Jameis Winston's team, and he's the unquestioned starter going into the season.

If you listen...........you can hear very faintly "The Four Hoarse Men Of The B&G" "Could'a, Would'a, Should'a and What If? " Could'a, Would'a, Should'a and What If? "COULD'A, WOULD'A, SHOULD'A AND WHAT IF?" If Payton were still coach, he'd be listening.............

Heal, not grow a new arm.

For many years, all I heard was give Brees an average or better defense and the Saints will win Super Bowls. Well, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. One can make a valid argument that the defense was plenty good enough all those years, and the Saints did not get it done. Not trying to pin all those failures on Brees, but the truth is he was very inconsistent in the post season everyone of those years. Guess the short of it is no thanks, moving on, lets see what Winston can do.

It's all SP's fault for those three precious real, now wasted, opportunities.

He needs to cover the TE in that SF playoff loss. Common sense and we win.
Those two miracle last second plays, Lambs and Minnihaha, you ask... they don't even occur if he knows the rule book like BB does. BB taught us that rule which now no longer exists.

Kinda hard to win those big games (Rams NFC title games) when Brees is throwing to the likes of Dan Arnold and Tommy Lee Lewis 😳 in crucial moments.

Cooper Kupp Would'a caught that ball in spite of hitting the ground after the ball did in the "Non Call Game"!! Oh that's right Flagrant Pass Interference only happens during "Crucial Moments"😳

Kamara gets the PI call in the Rams game. Why is TLL even in the game at that point. I blame Sean, trying to out smart everyone using TLL.

Knowing the rulebook trumps all of the above, with all due respect.

Agreed on your comment if referenced to the non-call. But the now closed BB loophole was a dead ball foul. So no choice but to enforce it. And those miracle plays don't even exist. :bng:

As player:
Lets save him from himself, chip in to buy a fork and mail it to him. Throw in a picture of Favre and a sticky note that says "don't be that guy".

As a QB coach:
Lets make room for him. His work ethic and drive alone would elevate any team.

As a broadcaster: Put him in the booth so he can share his knowledge and expertise on a play by play basis and satisfy his passion by diving deeply into each individual game assignment just as he described doing as a player.

I can see Drew telling a joke onstage;

“A QB a LB and a Kicker walk into a bar and order drinks. After a few minutes they see a hot girl sitting by herself checking them all out.

The QB says; “Offense is the way to go boys! I’m gonna be aggressive and go for deep penetration into the end zone!”

The LB says “No way man. Be Defensive and cool. Let her call they play then you get a sack and score!

The Kicker says “Either way fellas, can I just split the uprights for the PAT ?”.

PAT means....... point after titties?

Point after try in rugby. Try is the term rugby players use instead of touchdown. A touchdown is named that because in rugby you have to touch the ball to the ground to score. Thus, the TD was born.
