Its the practice situation

Call it anyway you want -- fact is its a lack of productive practive that is really hurting us. Last week is another perfect example -- because of Rita the Saints had to leave San Antonio earlier than normal -- interrupting their practice. We are weeks behind other teams in terms of real practice due to our relocation. The constant moving is taking its toll. Even though San Antonio is not really home at least they will not have to leave during the week - can relax and play in front of cheering fans. I think things will get back to normal in the next few weeks and the Saints will start to play and execute better. Keep the Faith --- its a tough time for all right now.

I hope and pray you're right. I just said in the Culpepper/Brooks/Delhomme thread that I think the Saints are not this bad. The defense finally started shutting down the Vikings completely in the 2nd half until Brooks's interception. I don't know.........they can't be this bad...I've folllowed them all pre-season...and we saw what they did in Carolina.......geez, they've gotta step up.

We've must have had poor practices for the past 4 years then.

I do give some weight to the practice situation, but let's consider some facts here:

- Brooks/McAllister/Horn/Stallworth(well, Donte only 3) have been together now for 4 years on basically the same system, since the current system is just an abbreviated version of the old one.

- The Saints didn't lose that much practice time because of the hurricane. The hurricane hit just before the last preseason game, then they were immediately moved to another city where they had a field to practice on. There hasn't been a week when they have not practiced.

- The o-line has 2 new players, but these were supposed to be upgrades.

- None of the Saints players are living in shelters. They are living in condos in a very good part of town in S.A., with plenty of food and clothing. I can guarantee you they all have their x-boxes back.

- There was a situation when the Saints didn't have "proper weight-lifting equipment"... They all make enough to get a membership at a local gym. Heck, Jerry Rice tied a tire around his waist and ran up a hill...

- There aren't that many local players in the roster, so the "they are worried about their families" doesn't really hold mustard. Doubt any Saints live in the 9th Ward.

- So they play better on the road... there :)

That said, I'm just going to enjoy watching the New Orleans Saints this year, because, no matter what the NFL is saying now, come Summer of '06, no one outside the LA, MS, and AL is going to remember Katrina, and the TV money is somewhere else...

Boy -- I have to admit I am surprised at the bitterness being displayed here. I have been a loyal Saints fan since day 1 (as a little kid my dad took me to Tulane stadium to watch the games) -- I am upset at the lackluster play also -- but I believe we have a better team than we have displayed to date -- and I believe that things will work out. Sue me for being optimistic ---

If it's the practices, then why do I feel like I just watched last year's denver game....or the san diego game? People in the media may call them the "road weary" saints, but they look just like the Jim Haslett saints to me.

Poor preparation...poor execution.

Also, keep in mind that they usually play their worst games the weeks where Jim says they had a great week of practice.

Bottom line....I think we're better than both of the teams that beat us this week. But they both made us look stupid on the field. We weren't able to execute our gameplan after spotting them 7 and the offense wouldn't get things going for us. Like Brooks or not...he has looked like an absolute clown the last 2 weeks. (With a great arm.)
