2022 NFL receiving corps rankings

Saints considered Tier 2

Fair assessment and an under the radar one too.

If our O line is solid, with what we have at wr we should be very good.

I believe you are right in your assessment. We have the receiving core to be very good if the O-line clicks and Winston stays healthy. Olave looks like a smooth route runner who will be very good with us. I hope can't call Mike gets motivated with him on the team.

It gets me very nervous that Mike isn't ready yet. I know the Saints will not take chances with this guy and would hold him back anyway, just hope the situation with MT isn't worse than what is being reported. Kinda makes me wonder if MT's situation is the real reason Landry was signed?

Mike has never NOT been motivated. That's why he's had the success he has had. I just hope Olave and Landry (and the others) get just as motivated as Mike has always been.

Tier 2 must mean twice as good as tier one!!!

Honestly, MT has had the majority of his game time with Drew Brees. I don't think it can be underestimated that Brees has made many receivers look good during his career, many that went on to do nothing with other teams.

Not popular decision, but I would have parted ways a couple of seasons ago.

Complete BS. I truly hope our new additions are much more hungry than MT after his payday.

Not BS at all. One of the most recognized attributes of Michael Thomas was always his passion and drive. Your complaints about some lack of hunger coincide perfectly with the freak injury sustained in the first game of the 2020 season against the Bucs. Up to that point he was arguably the best WR in the game. He showed enough hunger to play through that injury when he should have been shut down.

You just sound resentful that he got paid. From all indications he has been working his ass off to get ready for the 2022 season after having to undergo a second surgery this past November. His salary is a bargain as compared to the new deals all the other top WR's are receiving. I really don't get the whole lack of hunger claim.

You are correct on this point. It would have absolutely not a popular decision and for extremely good reasons.

Saints were damn near LAST in WR rankings for 2021.

Fast forward to now, we selected arguably the best wide out prospect from the draft & also signed a proven, chain mover & dawg in Landry.

Tier 2 is an excellent starting point for 2022.

Not to mention getting back arguably the best possession receiver in the league in Michael Thomas.

I'm still waiting to see how well Can't call Mike will do when he starts cutting. He is older and hasn't seen the field in over a year. I have my reservations but I'm hoping for the team oriented Michael to come back to the Saints and be a team firs guy.

And before someone says he's a team guy, I just want to say that staying in touch with the medical staff, coaches and front office and getting the proper treatment is what I'm talking about. Thanks in advance.

I hope that drum your beating for Thomas after being off a year and 1/2 pays off.

Why would it not? He was arguably the best receiver in the league when he suffered that injury. His prowess was not due to speed. It was due to smart route running and, most of all, incredible hands. The last I heard his hands were not injured nor was his memory erased. Or did I miss something there?

I don't resent it begrudge anyone a payday, nor does his money personally impact me in any sort of way.

Since the injury, there has been no lack of Diva like behavior.

We both have opinions of MT and will have to agree to disagree.

Hopefully, he will return this year and we will see how his career flourishes without Drew. If he has a return to form, I will gladly change my opinion. I would absolutely love to be wrong about him, but at this point he is a very distant highlight reel.

Hopefully, CGM won't need a $6 million ankle like yours ...

Add me to the list of folks who are nervous about MT. After a year and a half, and with some reports saying he still has a slight limp, I'm worried about this young man's ankle having permanent damage. Aside from football, I hope he's actually ok. I hope it's just a rope-a-dope, but we will see. If he is fully healthy, I don't worry about his motivation or any diminishing skill set.

Legit concern.
