For anyone wondering about Thomas' injury, it's not the surgically repaired foot/ankle.

Re: Injury Report: Week Four - Vikings at Saints

Looks like Winston didn't practice again today. Neither did Thomas.

K Major 09-29-2022 09:10 AM

Re: Injury Report: Week Four - Vikings at Saints

So yesterday Dennis said, "I expect Winston to practice on Thursday" ... but he didn't.

Jameis Winston needs to heal coach.

Insert Dalton vs Minnesota.

I really hope to see some screens to #41.

Re: Injury Report: Week Four - Vikings at Saints

Andrus Peat has played in only 9 games in 2 seasons. Some used to rag on Armstead but Andrus is becoming just as brittle.

Head scratcher on that new deal he got based on his availability over the years.

Saints need to draft more guards in 2023 or pay (Free Agency) for one. Not a fan of Throckmorton in the run game.

Again, without trying we will never know if there is a spark. IMO, we do lack a long-term answer, we will see. You have to try something to know if it will fail or not. Hitting the check downs would be a start and an improvement, ball management.

That’s a cool helmet Dalton has in that pic.

It was from the website ProFootballMock. The one that did all the fake QB Facebook conversations. That stuff was funny.

I am not sure who works more with glass, famed Seattle area artist Dale Chihuly, or famed New Orleans area football GM Mickey Loomis. We might as well try to win because we don't have a draft position to benefit from if we lose thanks to a dumb trade. But in the future we need to hold on to our draft picks, accumulate more if possible, and get younger, while avoiding players with epic college injury histories like Taysom Hill and Alex Analzone. Questions remain if Winston could possibly have the talent to succeed with the right protection, but none of that matters if he is entering a not durable phase of his career. And the team built around him is not durable either. Thomas' talent seems to have survived the two year layover to some extent (metrics say he isn't getting open/separation a ton) but he does not seem durable either. And then we brought in a shiny new safety with both character and health issues. And another safety who is aging and undersized and had lots of health issues earlier in his career. Peat is both ineffective and unreliable. And we replaced Armstead who could not stay healthy with a tackle who got in fights in camp and then hurt his foot. We need to get younger and healthier.

No one will say the quiet part out loud, but I'm not afraid to. Our medical staff is pretty poor compared to most teams in the NFL. Better clean that up in addition to getting younger healthier players. This subject touches on a blog post I'm planning to write very soon.

I’ve been saying this for the last few years too. We always have a bunch of guys on our report. I thought the guy from Alabama was supposed to fix this

While they did address this a few years back, it's painfully obvious with the continued history of injured players, Brees included, that ownership/management needs to keep the medical team on their toes. Maybe they are complicit with the coaches, SP specifically, and that DA learned the same tricks. For us fans, it is painful to watch and takes the edge off of the excitement and disappoints us...maybe even plays into the narrative that games are sometimes predetermined. I sure hope not. It feels as if we've taken a step back or two. Likely the best attitude is to do what Foreverfan used to say : Expect us to lose and be surprised and pleased when we do win. Sucks nonetheless. :bng:

Take a quick browse at the week four injury reports of every NFL team. Half the teams in the league currently have about as many players listed as the Saints. 24 of the 32 teams have nine or more players listed this week. We are no more prone to injuries than any other team in the league.

It all comes down to point of view. We spend all week monitoring the health of primarily our own players and fail to see that everyone else is dealing with the same situations. Some teams are dealing with far worse.

Agree with the tunnel vision aspect. We are all prone to it. Even with all the tie-ins with former Saints, I don't spend much time thinking about the Ravens 2021 running back situation!

It's not just merely the Saints... Maybe they weren't reported as much in the past , maybe for past, it just seems epidemic like now. Just increase the roster size already. Practice squads don't get paid much.

This is a part of it, I believe. I believe reporting requirements have become more strict. Perhaps a part of the new relationship with the gambling industry. Although, I do agree with increasing the roster size.

NFL network reports that Kamara is out for today. Murray is activated from the practice squad.
I’m guessing that the rib injury was more serious than previously reported. My best guess is that they must’ve been limiting his touches in previous games.

I'm a firm believer that dome teams have more turf toe and lower leg injuries. I haven't done any research but that feels substantial. to me.

May be. But both Thomas (toe) and Landry (ankle) were injured on natural grass last week at Carolina.
