He better be thankful to still be alive or not have some god-awful disability. The destructive power of lightning is crazy... you rarely get a second chance to avoid long-term damage. About 10 percent die, but most lightning strikes are indirect and leave you with lasting damage. I don't know if he got directly hit or not, but he's lucky to be upright.

Lightning is the only thing that will stop a rugby game besides maybe a hurricane. That video is a good reason why we don't play when lightning is close.

My wife's uncle was struck and killed by lightning while playing the outfield in semi-pro ball back in the '40's.
