He better be thankful to still be alive or not have some god-awful disability. The destructive power of lightning is crazy... you rarely get a second chance to avoid long-term damage. About 10 percent die, but most lightning strikes are indirect and leave you with lasting damage. I don't know if he got directly hit or not, but he's lucky to be upright.
