Re: Jim Harbaugh Win-Win Idea
And as for the Saints situation, there just aren't a lot of options for either the front office, the coaching staff or the roster. Bad investments, bad luck, and bad timing have combined to put a tight, small box around the immediate future of the club. There isn't much hope of a miracle, but there are obviously some changes that can be made to set up for the future. Given the limited options, blowing the team up from one dimension or the other will not solve any problem, just delay the inevitable. I'd rather take the inevitable now, then move on with options, than chop off a limb, poke the eyes out, and lobotomize the organization due to petty grievances by the fan base.
Despite everything, this team was one win short of getting the cowgirls or eagles in the first round of the playoffs. I'm not that disappointed after watching the last 4 games of the season with this roster and this coaching staff. No matter what, next year won't be much better, unless injuries decline, but in two years, I'm very optimistic. Cap space, the ability to move assets, and draft capital will allow us to see if the front office and coaching staff have what it takes. |
