I am pi$$ed off to the heights of pi$$$tivity!
All of the talking heads are wringing their hands like a bleeding heart liberal over the defensive holding call that effectively handed the Super Bowl to the Chiefs yesterday.
I don't remember this much angst when the refs didn't make an obvious pass interference/helmet to helmet hit that if called, would have sent the Saints to their second Super Bowl and we would have finally had a Brees/Brady Super Bowl! |

Kansas City rushed for more yards than the Eagles on less attempts. The Eagles had no sacks on Mahomes and really didn't disrupt him all that much. The Eagles led by 10 but struggled in the second half, despite getting benefit of the doubt on a few key calls.
But recency bias applies to the end of the game I guess. |
Re: I am pi$$ed off to the heights of pi$$$tivity!
Coming from the Del Val area, I had to listen to all the tix being sold to ride the Eagles Hype Train for the past few weeks.
When they started whining about perceived crappy officiating from that ONE call, I kindly reminded them that I am a SAINTS FAN!!! Sit yo a$$ down and take a number for the complaint department! |

but hey, it was the bias of the officials and bad turf that cost them the game. Bye Felicia! |

Re: I am pi$$ed off to the heights of pi$$$tivity!
It was a borderline call. The reason Bradberry is owning up to it is that he saw what happened to the Saints when they criticized the refs. The most penalties were called on them for years. He does not want to drown in flags until he is washed out of the leagues. If you are a player and you miss a game due to a family emergency and in the game you miss a key controversial penalty is inexplicably called on you when you are 2000 miles away, the smartest thing unfortunately is to own up to the penalty and praise the brilliant officiating. Otherwise you are public enemy #1 for not realizing what a hard job the refs have and not respecting their authority and trying to embaresss them.

All I can say (again) is Mahomes is a monster and Andy Reid is a Master Strategist. Wish we had both.

And I don't agree with people who say you shouldn't call that at the end of the game. I don't get why the rules should change at the end of the game. |

Re: I am pi$$ed off to the heights of pi$$$tivity!
It was clearly a hold. It seems that most people complaining are assuming the call was on Bradbury's left hand use. That's not what drew the flag It was his right hand earlier on the cut that clearly stretch the jersey of the receiver and impaired his ability to make the cut. See below.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fo0eu63X...g&name=900x900 It wasn't at this point ... itthe hold happened about three yards earlier. https://nypost.com/wp-content/upload...s-eagles-1.jpg |

We need full-time referees who work together full-time studying film and maybe working XFL games, USFL, Canadian league, or whatever they're playing now. But the rules exist for Roger Godhell and the owners. Nothing else matters. Not you. Not me. It's all about lining the owners pockets. It's certainly not about the Integrity of the game/ entertainment.
As long as this is entertainment and not a real sport there is no way that the NFL will relinquish their control of the game with manipulative calls by the referee. The referees are either incompetent or biased and it is becoming more obvious every year to more and more fans. |

THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX
Eliminate Offensive and Defensive Holding: All players on the OL, DL, LB and DB's would wear some sort of limited flexibility glove. A mitten would be even better. This would lead to a change in blocking techniques by the OL and new pass rushing and pass covering techniques on the Defensive side. The Offense is supposed to make positive yardage plays and score points. The Defense is supposed to prevent positive yardage plays and scores. |

Re: I am pi$$ed off to the heights of pi$$$tivity!
The problem is that Goodell makes it clear to referees when he has an agenda, like seeing his Los Angeles experiment succeed or putting Maholmes in the conversation as the next GOAT just as Brady retired. So, while there are these borderline calls that are technically penalties but only sometimes get called, refs know that uncle Roger will give them a rub down with his magic hands if they happen to make the choice on those borderline calls that benefit his chosen team in the big playoff games.
It sucks to see the Super Bowl decided on a borderline call that while legit, would not have been called half the time. Especially when we missed out on something that would have been called 99% of the time. Perhaps there should be some special rules for the critical moments of big games that allow borderline calls to result in a replay of the down rather than being a black and white judgement call where the refs decide the game by whether they throw a flag. Make more of it reviewable but give the option to replay the down if its borderline and should not decide the game. |

Did you not understand that? I mentioned that the offense and defense would have to evolve. Did you miss that too? When you finish your little laugh click the link below and learn other evolutions of the game after certain rules were changed. For Example: The QB couldn't throw a pass unless he was 5 yds. behind the line of scrimmage? Its first playoff game in 1932 — a game forced indoors by deep snow and frigid temperatures — inspired one of the most significant rules changes in NFL history. In that game, Chicago Bears fullback and future Hall of Famer Bronko Nagurski faked a plunge, stepped back, jumped and completed a lob pass to Red Grange for a key touchdown in his team’s 9-0 victory over the Portsmouth (Ohio) Spartans. The Spartans complained bitterly (SOUND FAMILIAR?) that the play violated a rule stating passes must be thrown from at least 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage. https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules...the-nfl-rules/ |
