Looks to be a potential replacement for Marquez Callaway being both bigger and faster. Edwards' 40 time (4.53) bested Callaway's (4.56) and at 6'3" Edwards gives the Saints more length than Callaway did at 6'1".

He’s got familiarity with Carr. They’ve already had 4 scoring hookups together.

And just like that they sign another piece to the puzzle.

The last time we traded back was 2007 when were stiil roster building under Sean Payton. We are going through a small rebuild right now and the Saints are churning the roster. The Saints value their top 100 picks and could walk away with a nice haul this year if we trade back.

I like the thought process. Unfortunately, the Saints have consistently traded up for that one guy, rather than trading back for draft capital. Nothing in the front office has changed so sadly, I doubt they change things up now.

Gotta find a dance partner to trade back.

More draft picks does not translate into better players according to the Saints philosophy. As Loomis has been quoted, "Quality over quantity." Drafting players you definitely want over players that fall to lower slots make sense given their philosophy. Entering the draft the Saints are going to have about 15-18 spots to fill on the 90 man roster. What is the advantage of filling ten of them with lower picks when you can fill seven of them with higher picks. Either way you still have the whole bank of UDFA's out there and the third bank of free agents. Who knows, some of those UFDA's may be players you would have taken with those extra picks. Given the Saints success with UFDA's I like Loomis' strategy.
