Will Levis reportedly plummeting down draft boards

Kentucky quarterback Will Levis has been regarded as one of the consensus top four players at his position in the 2023 NFL Draft class. With so many teams looking to land a long-term option at the position, he has been mentioned as a possible target in top-four and a virtual lock to be selected inside the top 10.

If he drops as this article suggests, do we pull the trigger?

I don't think he drops that far. Even if he does, I don't think they do it.

No. I still don’t think it’s the right time for drafting a QB early. Carr has got a 2 year tryout. Also a guy like Hooker might fall. Or the Florida project guy might be available round 3. I wouldn’t trade up for him.

Who are you speaking of? Richardson?

Yeah. He’s got size and physicals. Didn’t start very many games. He could be a good project. Not sure his draft projection.

I used to play some serious FF for years, and got back into it after a hiatus during covid. He's not making it to the 3rd. He most assuredly will be a top 10 pick, and there is buzz he could go #1 after his combine simply due to the upside after what Hurts has done. Biggest downside is accuracy which can be fixed like it was with Josh Allen. That's who he's being compared to mostly. And a more athletic Cam Newton.

So…if he slipped to third round it’s a good pick! 😜

What exactly has he done at Kentucky again?

He’s potentially a walking pick 6 in the NFL.

Color me unimpressed.

I watched his pro day throws and I wasn’t blown away. He’s big and strong though. If he wants a Taysom Hill type role he could play in the league. Not sure he’d last as a passer. Then again, what do I know.

As far as college production Hooker is the guy I like.

Richardson is being mocked as high as #4 by the Colts in the first round.

I watched some of his games and I can't see why anyone would take him even in the first round. He is very inaccurate. Maybe he has the physical traits of a QB, but I didn't see it on the field.

Nah. we've already invested heavily in Derek Carr and I don't expect a top draft pick at QB. If Hooker is there in the third then heck yes!

I think some teams are thinking Lamar Jackson 2.0 with him.

He's 6'5", 230 lbs running a 4.4 at 20 years old. We watch Taysom Hill every Sunday. At the very least he could fill that kind of role. His potential is through the roof.

Doesn't really matter if he can't hit the side of a barn in terms of accuracy.

That's what they said about Lamar. They said he needed to play TE.

Respectfully disagree on Lamar. He was productive in college, way more than Richardson in the little he showed..

But pundits still claimed he'd never make it as a QB and needed to play a different position. I seriously doubt Richardson is as horrendous as you claim. Supposedly he made all the throws at his pro day. Yes, it was against air, but he still made them. Some teams will feel he only needs to pass the ball 15-20 times a game. Teams will be stacking the box so tightly all he'd need to do would be to toss the ball in the general area of generally ignored receivers.

That's why he'll probably go in the first round.

If he makes it to us maybe we get an offer to trade back and pick up an extra day two pick.

I know we are. We can't help ourselves. On the flip side, we struggle with depth after giving away picks in the draft each year. It's a vicious cycle with no end in sight. We need better depth and maybe that should come from the draft. Just sayin". :beatnik:

I think we had decent depth, but several of them suffered injuries, as well. Honestly, there aren't enough good players in the world to go three deep at every position without major drop-offs in ability. It's even getting tough to have top quality starters at every position across the league.

That's a reason to grow the game across the globe and increase the potential player pool. They need solid farm leagues to develop players.

We only looked like we had decent depth Guido. If we are unable to start our players due to the inordinate amount of annual injuries then we need better depth. We can't continue to sustain these devastating injuries or we need better depth. Something has to go. I would suggest trading up less and using those mid round picks to develop into back up roles and eventual starters.

So, we had decent depth last year, and as you say injuries happen across the league, but then why do they happen more to us? And if not more often than other teams then why is our depth so shallow? I'll tell you why? We only draft five players a year. There is no competition at the back end of the roster, fighting for a spot. We keep drafting like we're one player away but in reality we are several supporting players away from having decent depth to make a playoff run.

LOL.

He'll still be an NFL QB, just now he'll be a "project" instead of a guy drafted to be the franchise QB.

The USFL will help with that a bit. But yeah they really should've stuck with NFL Europe. It would've paid off.

Re: Will Levis reportedly plummeting down draft boards

He was injured all of last year and had a new OC and a terrible O-line. All of that being said I never thought of him being a top 10 pick. I still wouldn't mind having him because dude is tough AF and his teammates love him. He does hold the ball too long but he had absolutely no time last year.

AsylumGuido 04-28-2023 08:28 AM

Re: Will Levis reportedly plummeting down draft boards

I still wouldn't want him at #40. Carr only just turned 32. He is very likely a better QB than any of these coming out this year will ever be. All we need now at QB is someone to take over Winston's backup job holding the clipboard for five or six years.

No reason why he shouldn't as compared to any other player in the entire league putting on the gear.
