Adam Trautman asked to be traded by the Saints

Tight end Adam Trautman was traded by the Saints to the Broncos over the weekend. It was exactly what he wanted.

“Absolutely,” Trautman told Mike Klis of 9news.com. “I was actually hoping to get moved. This was initiated by me personally. I’ve been waiting for a little bit for something to materialize and it just happened to be the Broncos, obviously.”

... so there's a bit more to the story it appears.

Re: Adam Trautman asked to be traded by the Saints

So when Payton coached him vs Allen, he had a whopping 9 more receptions for a mammoth 60 more receiving yards!!

Whoa!!

Lol even funnier that he's gone to the team coached by the guy, who drafted him and then didn't use him.

It probably didn't feel good to lose snaps to two guys who were converted to TE (Juwan and Taysom).

Nonetheless, he asked privately, the wish was granted and we basically got a nice WR prospect in return. No hard feelings at all.

So wait, you wanted more opportunities @ TE but you somehow got outplayed by an undrafted (converted to TE) receiver who made Jameis Winston & Dalton look good at times.

C'mon man, don't get mad ... perform better. I won't miss him at all. Adam was likely to be cut in 2023 anyhow. I'm surprised we received any compensation for him.

Saintfan kinda told us about him a year or so ago.

Didn’t he hurt himself running in motion pre-snap?

Adam converted to TE as well. He played WR in college.

I used to keep a list of all the tight ends that CSP brought to the Saints
through his first 7 or 8 years. The number got close to 100 different ones that had made the final 53. I quit counting years ago. In case no one has noticed CSP has a thing for the TE, LB and PK positions.

14 different PK from 2006-2021

You don't control the opportunities given. He NEVER got a TRUE opportunity in NO first 2 seasons he sat behind Jared Cook, then has to compete against the proven Swiss army knife and a former WR turned TE. Stop hating to hate you mad he didn't turn out here and you mad he left? Wish Adam Trautman nothing but the best and a fair shake

Whose mad Rell? Whose HATING? WTF? Adam was a serviceable TE that was out-performed by an undrafted player. If you really watched closely, Adam's role was diminishing under Sean Payton.

Damn man, some of ya'll need to chill when others have a different point of view on below-performing Saints players. I'm not here on this forum to give every player a pat on the back. Saints want RESULTS.

Keep an eye on him in Denver. Not much will change my friend, he doesn't move the needle as a TE at this level. The NFL is a production-driven league.

Look at his stats. Loomis and company probably had the paperwork ready & didn't bat an eye when he asked to be traded.

We are happy he left. He was targeted 85 times over 3 seasons through the regular season and playoffs, so that's 85 opportunities. He controlled what happened on that 85 opportunities and what happened was most of us had seen enough and would rather take a flier on a big receiver.

So what you're actually saying is that he didn't really look in the mirror hard enough?

Oh, man, I love me some Sean Payton but what a memory, that was terrible. What a nightmare. He just couldn't find somebody steady, and he kept changing horses all the time, and then he'd finally find someone and stick with them, even when they became head cases and started missing. We fans were spoiled by having Morton for so long. But Payton was always kicking the tires on new kickers, and never satisfied.

Exactly this. He don't wanna be here and we got something for him. Worked out well I'd say.

Trout looked to have all the attributes to be successful NFL TE. Liked him, never hated him even when he let us down in clutch situation. Infortunelty he was just not the real deal. Out played by UDFA WR changed to TE … the writing was on the wall to be read by all.

The whole 2022 season, watching Russell Wilson struggle, one could not help but think "he just needs a weapon like Adam Trautman."

:D I can answer the above questions...I'll take Rell for 100 Alex

Re: Adam Trautman asked to be traded by the Saints

I think it boils down to the fact that he couldn't get separation. That will limit his opportunities if the QB isn't comfortable with him.
