Cameron Jordan hopes to sign one more deal with Saints before retiring
Cameron Jordan's career in New Orleans has already earned him a permanent place in Saints lore.
With 115.5 sacks -- one more than fellow future Pro Football Hall of Famer J.J. Watt -- eight Pro Bowls and one All-Pro to his name, Jordan doesn't have to argue his standing among the best of his era. How he goes out, though, isn't guaranteed to include a storybook ending. That could change with one more contract -- at least, that's what Jordan said Monday. "If we get a deal done, that'll be probably the final years of my career here," Jordan said, via the Associated Press. "Whatever happens, happens. In terms of how we play, how we want to attack offenses, that's what I'm here for." https://www.nfl.com/news/cameron-jor...efore-retiring |

Edit… Walter Payton and Barry Sanders just popped in my mind. Hell there’s probably a lot more than I’m not even thinking of. |

And our very own home grown Terry Bradshaw ... who, btw, merely has a 52% completion repertoire, yet four SBs .
Has passing come a long way or neaux? Would Bradshaw even make a team in today's NFL? |

Re: Cameron Jordan hopes to sign one more deal with Saints before retiring
We owe Cam $24 million dead prorated money from old bonuses and restructures in 2024 if we dont extend him. Extending him would likely reduce that on 2024 but tread water with a similar dead cap hit in 2026 when he retires. It amounts to kicking the can down the road potentially. Cam is still a good olayer but I wish we could front load the contract so there is no dead money when he retires. Loomis has no magic for when a player retires, everything comes due, and that will be right when Carr’s contract is like $50 million plus or giant dead money if we move on after the Carr restructures that will happen.
I like Cam but I hope the extension is closer to $10 million per year than $15+ million. If its like $15+ million per year and highly backloaded we could end up with $30 million dead cap when Cam retires. Also I dont totally see why we have to do this now unless Cam is game for a below market deal. He is at an age where he certainly could decline and lose his job to younger players or injury. What if that did happen in 2023 but it was too late and we already committed to $15 million per year in 2024 and 2025 and $25 million dead cap in 2026? It would be safer to do the deal after the season and it seems unlikely at this age that Cam would have some amazing season that would greatly raise his price. |

No respect and Bob Rose points that out here.
