I watched most of both games. CJ Stroud lived up to, or more accurately down to, his horrible S2 score and made a really bad decision on his interception. Over the years since the S2 was developed as a standardized test is has shown that high scores tend to relate to success in the league, but do not guarantee success. On the other hand, low scores have a very accurate relationship to failure in the league. Stroud had one of the lowest ever recorded. Unlike the Wonderlic it has nothing to do with learning or problem solving and is not multiple choice. It deals exclusively with reaction time and accuracy. The pro game is fast and if you have problems seeing, recognizing, and reacting you will struggle.

Edit: Actually the test is the "S2". Had a brain fart.

I watched. Tank Dell looks like I expected. He’s super talented. Jordan Addison looked good as well. I like the Texans future. I think Stroud will have a better showing next go around, but they have to get that offensive line together. Glad football is back. JSN looked good for Seattle too. Seattle has some nice pieces on defense, but that run defense still weak.

I'd still be very concerned about that S2 score for Stroud. He claimed that his score was so low because he doesn't like tests. That statement alone gives me as much pause as the score itself. I understand the test is given using a game controller basically. It's all about physical and mental reaction time and accuracy. Bryce Young scored extremely high, as did Haener. So did Brees when he took the test.

Yeah. You've mentioned before that you are high on Stroud. Maybe he'll be that one player that bucks the trend on the S2.

Football is back! On Sunday I'll start watching when the Saints play again. Then I have to wait until the following week to watch them again. I could watch the other games....but nah. I only watch Saints football anymore. :bng:

Well, the Panthers looked like crap. Lost, at home, 27-0. Their offensive line has major issues.

To be fair, their opponent had already played a game. You may still be right, however.

Can't read too much in these preseason games, win or lose.

The Panthers' QB is Bryce Young. He didn't go to OSU. CJ Stroud, the Texans' QB, was the one that went to OSU.

Other than Joe Namath and Kenny Stabler, can't really say Bama QBs are that much better. But they do seem to be a bit more serviceable than OSU QBs. Yeah Tua is playing, as is Mac Jones. So the jury is still out on those. We'll see on Bryce Young.

I guess when one examines it, very few QBs are successful in the pros after a stellar college career. The school where they played does not really translate into instant success as we make it to be. It's what's in between the ears that differentiates the talent at the pro level . Everybody is talented in the Pros. Some may get by on their athleticism for a bit, but eventually the little gray cells matter.

This isn't an attack on Neugy at all.

Did you see the game or highlights of his pre season game vs the Ravens? That sack for a 20+ yard loss? Or the 1 of 4 attemps @ 11 yards? Zero pocket awareness. He's bad bad. If not careful, he may lose his #3 spot to Tanner Mckee (currently the #4).

Like one Philly announcer stated, "he's a lost cause".

The Saints scouting swung and missed hard with Ian. Not NFL material.

It’s not necessarily a statement about what the D will be like this year, but I’d say by most standards (maybe not turnovers) we were a top 5 d at the end of last year. The first few games were tough but in the second half of the season they were playing as good as anybody else out there. Lattimore’s return was a big boost.
