Makes sense why Taysom has been listed as a QB on the roster for week 1.
Idiotic move Jake. |

Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
What if the team doctors okay'd something they knew would trigger a failed test just to open a space on the 53 man roster without exposing him to the practice squad?
That's WAY more likely than his intentionally trying to PED up. :D |
Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
This frees up more cap space now because the first six game's for Haener no longer hit the books.
Thanks for taking the bullet, rookie! ;) |

Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
Some other possibilities come to mind. Maybe Haener got busted for some obscure thing, like if I remember right Garrett Hartley got busted once for taking adderal to stay awake on a long drive. I would like to think that would be a 4 game suspension not 6 but who knows. Maybe there are ways to get from 4 games to 6 besides the specific substance, like evidence a player didn't cooperate or appeared to try to hide it in some way or was late for their test.
Or maybe Haener took a recreational drug at a party and tried to cover it up with some trick he learned in college to dilute his urine or get a bag from a friend or something, and the NFL was able to determine that his sample fraudulent. They might have called him in for a second test but weeks later and by then he was clean. In the event of a fraudulent sample the NFL can't really know if what was being covered up was performance enhancing or recreational, so perhaps if performance enhancing is more serious it would fall under that in the event of a fraudulent sample. I think something accidental from a supplement is possible too, just bringing up these other possibilities. |
Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
Not that it can be verified, but it is thought that protein enhanced hair gel may have been involved.

Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
Yup. It was the hair gel.
:D |
Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
It’s not impossible. I’ve had a few false positives on drug tests when I know I didn’t take ****.

Literally you can put some over the counter hair gel on and fail a test. I was being facetious, but it's true. |
Haener Suspended

Re: Haener Suspended
Kid says he didn't do it knowingly. Hoping he's being honest. No reason to suspect otherwise. I like his game and upside and would hate to see this derail his career with the saints.
|
Re: Haener Suspended
It's prolly some stupid supplement.
Now we understand the move at QB with regards to Taysom. |
Re: Haener Suspended
Huge news like Payton opening up about why he left the Saints gets lost within the abyss of a multi page thread but this **** gets two?
I’m surprised it got its own thread at all. |

Long story short, I don't work for Alyeska Pipeline any longer. Alaska is a big state but when you work for the pipeline, you generally know everyone from Prudhoe Bay to Valdez (the length of the piepline from the top of the state to the lower portion of the mainland state) so I know some people that are convinced that I smoked weed. The person at the nutrition store that told me the CBD wouldn't effect my UA apparently wasn't incorrect. The UA didn't show traces of THC in my system. The hair follicle test did.:brood: |

A rookie QB sitting four deep in depth with a roster spot guaranteed has absolutely nothing to gain by intentionally taking anything. I still say it was the hair gel. |

From the Bucs report While the article is a bit stale, it suggests that it's still current under the CBA. So something is still not right about the 6 games. Quote:
NFL Players Suspended For PEDs And Failed Drug Test Jaguars' Cam Robinson suspended four games for violating NFL's PED policy, per report Cowboys RB Ronald Jones suspended two games for violating NFL PED policy So the more we see examples of disparate games fined for seemingly the same thing, even for rookies, the more this is suspicious for Haener as being singled out. There is yet an untold story. Will Nick Underhill get to the bottom of this? |
Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
Don't like to see this happen, but at least it was to Haener who isn't likely to see much playing time this year, rather than a rookie like Bresee or Foskey who we need to pitch in.

Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
There's more to this story.

Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
Fixed friggin league.

Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
Does this even matter? Go hit some weights son and study the playbook. He was never seeing the field and a roster spot opens up.
|
Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
^^ Exactly.
More importantly, that spot is going to someone (likely a special teamer) who can help this team win games on Sundays in 2023. |

Link here In an apparent tradeoff between the players’ union and league management, the two sides recently agreed to reduce penalties for the in-season use of stimulants such as Adderall. The new collective bargaining agreement in 2020 reduced suspensions for first-time offenses from four games to two while also reducing suspensions for second offenses from 10 games to five. At the same time, the two sides also agreed to increase the penalties for anabolic agents or steroids – lengthening those suspensions from four to six games for a first offense and 10 games to 17 games for a second offense. |
Re: Saints QB Jake Haener suspended six games for PED violation
Shorty was doing what he can/needs to do in order to stay on the NFL radar. I don’t fault him. It’s what separates him from Ian Book. He just got caught. He’s known now and it makes his headshots sell more.

Saints DT David Onyemata suspended six games for violation of PED policy. Saints WR Kawaan Baker suspended six games for PED violation. Others of note got 4 games: Charles Grant, New Orleans Deuce McAllister, New Orleans Will Smith, New Orleans |

Since 2001, NFL players have been suspended for performance-enhancing drugs and related substances at least 258 times, including at least 82 times in the past five years, according to a newly published database compiled by USA TODAY Sports. The violations have affected every team in the league and every position on the field, including players who have been named to the Pro Bowl and even long snappers, quarterbacks and at least one placekicker. There were seven more in 2022 and five more to date in 2023. I swear it's getting to the point that these players can't walk through a CVS, or even a Kroger, without rubbing up against something that will trigger a positive test. There has to be a happy medium. Just because a substance is on a banned list doesn't mean it is at a high enough level in the body to actually "enhance performance." |
