New Orleans Saints GM Mickey Loomis talks Buccaneers game, upcoming Patriots matchup

"I didn't think we played well on either side of the ball and we made some mistakes that we just can't make and expect to beat a good football team," Loomis said.

With the team at 2-2 and 13 games left in the regular season, the "sky is not falling" as Hoss stated, but Loomis stated an important caveat.

"I agree the sky is not falling but we also have to act like it is falling in some degree and have a sense of urgency about improving, paying attention to details otherwise we are going to find ourselves in the same boat week after week," Loomis said.

Lol, the Saints offense haven't scored a TD in like 7 quarters of football. Zach Wilson is putitng up more touchdowns than our QB & Zach stinks.

We currently lead the league in holding calls and have more turnovers than TDs. I guess LD Bell is 16-38 as a HC for a reason.

Wonder what Loomis will say if they take another L on sunday?

I don’t wonder what he’ll say. And I know he won’t DO anything. So there’s that.

He is right that we do need to act like the sky is falling to some degree and have a sense of urgency. Hopefully he means a sense of urgency to win, not to trade away our 1st round pick and end up with no insurance if it gets worse.

However, if we find ourselves in the same boat a few more weeks in a row, that can't go on forever week to week. Eventually if it keeps going on into november or december, Allen and Carmichael need to find themselves on a different boat in December, a Carnival cruise boat, on Sunday. You can't have a sense of urgency without eventual consequences for lack of results. The perception of the lack of consequences for a lack of results is often what creates a lack of urgency.

Wow! Just Wow! I still don't know if you are a fan or a troll. It's been tough to tell after reading your posts. You don't like anything about the Saints. That's obvious.

Oh well.......maybe we'll start winning and you'll start enjoying the boys again. Regardless. Who Dat!:bng:

No. When we are winning he disappears. It's like he comes out of his hole when the Saints lose. Reminds me of that spkb25 guy that trolled for a couple of years around here.

Not longer than me. Been here since day one. Since Spring of '67 at 9 years-old when my dad was transferred via the USAF to Louisiana. Personally, I like my Saints whatever their record might be. Always have and always will. Probably hard for a fair-weather "fan" to understand, and that's okay.

Loomis needs to stop speaking about the team's issues in the context of "this season".

Carmichael's streak of sub par performance is now 2+ years long.

I like to win, as well. But that doesn't mean I feel compelled to spread hatred toward the team if things aren't going great. It is what it is and there is nothing you or I, or for that matter what any fan can do to change matters so I choose to stay positive and hope for the best.

I agree with what Loomis was trying to convey. You have to have urgency, but you can't have so much urgency that it causes you to become reckless.

Being an optimist and a realist are not mutually exclusive. An optimist looks for a positive outcome and a realist understands when those outcomes are totally outside of their own personal control. I realistically know what I can and cannot affect personally and yet I choose to look at things in a positive manner.

I question your reality when it comes to your approach. You are clearly pessimistic, but do you feel you have any control whatsoever on any outcome? If so, you are not realistic. If not, what good does your pessimism and negativity contribute to any success?

I can’t speak for him or anyone else, but when my team continues to stink up the dome, boos go a long way. Outside of the stadium, grown men calling a spade a spade, is REALISM.

After failing to exceed 20 points the first 3 weeks just like us, the Bears scored 28 points in week 4 and 27+ so far in week 5. Did they do this by the GM coming out and publicly guaranteeing everyone's job security? No. It was pretty clear jobs were at risk. If anything the team is letting Loomis, Allen, Carmichael, and Allen down by not setting any expectations. If we want them to shape up, they need to sweat.

...so... now you are a psychiatrist. No Pessimism here, just reality.... I know when my coach rode my ass because of poor play or attitude, things changed on the outcome....as a result, I won Louisiana state championship, 1979 (trust me, i have the documentation and awards to prove)
... can you relate, maybe so,... doubt it. Again... get over yourself and accept this team is NOT performing to what YOU should be expecting ... WINNING... with that.. i take a toke and hope you don't choke... :beatnik:

to the point... we both want the Saints to win... your way is apathy and wishing... mine is expectation and demand; especially when money is involved.... huge difference.

First, congrats on your Championship. What sport? I haven't personally done the same, but my eldest son won the all round (High Point) Louisiana USA Swimming State Championship while in high school.

Secondly, I am not apathetic. I simply know what I can and cannot affect personally. None of us know what any of the players or coaches do behind closed doors. I know for a fact that no amount of my b!#&ing or moaning is going to make any difference.

Thanks for the congrats.... Track & Field, sprinter 880 relay(anchor) 440 relay (anchor) 100 and 220 yard sprints...Glory days... however advice from my coach at the time...
