So we have a highly paid Spokesperson who happens to possess tremendous skills on the field, but doesn’t get utilized properly by an inept coaching staff. At least he says some of the things that a HEAD COACH is supposed to say (and do).

For those who don't want to listen to the entire AK interview ...

"The playcaller (Carmichael) isn't putting us in the best position to succeed. We aren't committed to the run, we have too many good players to be in the position that we are in". All eyes on Pete Carmichael's playcalling in Foxboro on Sunday. I hope he's listening to what input his stars are saying in those study sessions.

Toss up on who wins. Both teams are underperforming.

I'd suggest taking the less than seven minutes and listen to the entire interview. It's well worth the short amount of time.

It's obvious that the fans and media aren't the only ones who are disappointed in the play calling. The team looks deflated right now. They see what we all see too and it's depressing.

Thanks for the cliffs ... many of us don't have time for none of that.

He mentioned the need for more motion and the predictability of the offense as well.

With the skill and talent you have at RB, WR there is no excuse
not to be putting up 21-24 every week.

No creativity whatsoever. We’re kicking FGs every week.
Tampa/Bowles knew exactly what we were doing & where the ball
was going.

Really amazes me Pete is still the OC for New Orleans.

Well, I’m not usually a big advocate of a player running his mouth about the coaches, especially a guy that’s played one game this year.

That being said, maybe it’ll put some pressure on getting an offensive game plan moving forward that will get some points on the board.

I’ll say this, if this doesn’t scream that the coaches are about to lose the locker room, idk what does.

AsylumGuido 10-06-2023 08:48 AM

Re: Kamara tells it like it is about the Saints offensive woes

Carmichael admits that motion is in the playbook and even speaks on the advantages, but also admits it's on him for not utilizing it.

If it's in the playbook why not use it? NFL 101 tells us that it most effectively tips the defense's hand at minimum.

It may be getting close to Ronald Curry time.

Pete Carmichael ... lol.

He is doing the opposite of what he's saying. That offense isn't making any defense "think" at all.

Tampa knew exactly where we were going pre snap.

Even without Judon and Hernandez, this is a top tier defense (Pats) + they have a chessmaster in Bill B, so Pistol Pete will have to show me what "confusion" he does offensively. So far, I've seen nothing.

He admitted to not using enough motion. He gave examples of why he should be using more motion and said he'll make an effort to include more motion. Let's wait and see if he does, but at no point did he say he has been using enough motion.

More telling stats and rankings through 4 games ...

Play Action - Ranked 30th <13%>
Formation - Ranked 30th <4%>
Run/Pass - Ranked 30th <31%> ( you may recall Baker Mayfield had more yards rushing than AK or Taysom Hill last Sunday).
Pre - snap Motion (Ranked 31st) <24%>

It doesn't take a chemist to see that Pete Carmichael continues to FAIL as a playcaller.

Similar stats in 2022 as well.

Yeah, continue to "wait and see" if you want to. AK said it himself, they give up on the run TOO quickly.

And some people are still wondering why this team is kicking fgs every Sunday.

Lol, INSANE stats.

I love how much guys like Kamara and Thomas care. It's obvious in their interviews they are annoyed with the situation and take it upon themselves to speak up.

What I don't like, is just like last year, it falls to them to pick the team up. Not the head coach or positional coaches.

DA and Pete seem quite happy to just repeat the same BS of "we have to be better" to every media outlet that mentions how inept the offense is. And we all know, opening drive they'll move down the field, fail in the redzone, kick a FG and be done for the half.

DA has a losing record for a reason, he's not a leader. That's why he lets the players lead for him.

I'll lay a little wager with you, diz. How sure are you that "opening drive they'll move down the field, fail in the redzone, kick a FG and be done for the half" given that "we all know" that's going to happen? Enough to place $10 on it against $20 of mine? Or was that just hyperbole?

Whilst I get your angle, I don't gamble, so naturally I'll decline.

I hope I'm wrong, I'd love a convincing win. I just don't think this team has that in them, especially with the wonder twins at the helm.

Oh, well, it just seemed like easy money, which I love to come across when ever I can. ;) At least we'd both love the same thing.

basically asked DA if Michael Thomas talked junk to him on the sidelines last night to which coach Allen said yes and it was awesome. Thomas' goal was to bring so much energy he fired up the defense and DA too. #Saints

I think I like this but I don't know everything (anything!) that goes on behind the scenes. I believe that Dennis Allen is a smart defensive coach but he doesn't have the large presence like the last two coaches the Saints played against in Vrabel and Reich. Maybe the nerd needs a spark from one of the warriors he commands to have some semblance of fire during game days.

Here's a straight forward answer from Moreau from Brooke's question. It just takes better effort from everyone.

Why would I think they are not going to win? I predict an undefeated record every year. Always have. Of course I guarantee they'll win. Respect isn't required.

Re: Kamara tells it like it is about the Saints offensive woes

We should be able to really open things up offensively if we can finally keep all five starters in place for a solid stretch of time. And that includes Hurst as the eligible receiver in packages. Landon Young was less that pitiful in that roles.

The problem with our run game is that we keep changing our blocking schemes depending on who the RB is and we don't have the continuity needed. The O line is not on the same page and apparently Penning is having a hard time with several of Dougie Marrone's blocking schemes. Hurst is not playing LG as well as he played LT last year.

+1. I’ll condense my interpretation of this to say our O line play has been poor at best. It got Carr hurt. Every other position group has played well enough to win.
