Apparently an issue with a contractor working in the neighborhood parking somewhere they weren’t supposed to. Reports he was arrested originally it reports “appear” to be false.

Sounds like Saints players need to move away from Kenner.

The contractor interview is laughable too. He says Thomas threw bricks at his car, but there's only dust on the windows. No damage.

Kenner sounds like a garden spot.

Sounds like a great People's Court episode.

Is the Kenner PD full of Karen's?

Definitely. I was profiled within a week of moving to Kenner. They’ve always had that reputation…the city of Kenner in general to be honest.

Could the Lakefront airport handle the Saints plane? Is there room for a practice facility near UNO's athletic complexes? It does not seem like it's safe for the Saints to be in or around Kenner considering that the area is Atlanta Falcon's territory. i am guessing that players just live there because its a quick trip when the planes land, but safety has to come first. Matt Ryan on the other hand might love it in Kenner. Cam Jordan wouldn't pull any stunts on him there without getting charged with first degree manslaughter and attempted murder.

Just when Thomas seemed to be getting his act together he pulls this crap. :brood:

This won't help him with a contract extension.

This is so trivial. Besides, his act was never not together.

Disagree. A grown man, in his position of privilege and wealth while playing in the NFL, has to be above things like this. It's most definitely not trivial. It's stupid. It's wrong. Actions like that can cost him
his career and more importantly his life. In regards to the Saints, it doesn't benefit them to cut him. But, with his diminished skills, which doesn't match his salary, he won't be with the team next year.

I dunno man. In the past I would've probably agreed with you, and I do agree that it was stupid and wrong. But I don't think any amount of privilege or wealth puts someone above just being human at the end of the day. I don't know all the details, but apparently this situation has been going on for a couple of weeks, and if I put myself in his shoes I can't honestly say that I wouldn't hit a breaking point and do something stupid and wrong. Nick Underhill mentioned that the construction worker was apparently showing people where Mike lives, and folks were wandering onto his property and looking in his car windows and things like that. I can almost guarantee I would've probably done something stupid in light of all that. I wish he wouldn't have, it would have been better if he hadn't, but I'm not gonna sit here and crucify the guy over it.

Re: Kenner PD called out to home of Saints Wide Receiver Michael Thomas

If Michael Thomas can throw a brick at a windshield with little or no damage, he may have missed his true calling, cornhole. Can you imagine the touch required to land a brick on a windshield at distance with no damage? Football is only so many years. A top cornhole player could play decades and get all kinds of sponsorships winning international tournaments. It may become an Olympic sport eventually.

On the other hand neither this lousy Falcon's loving Matt Ryan fantasizing witness or the Kenner PD can say what Thomas threw any brick at without being inside his mind. They can only say what he hit. Knowing what I know of the basic laws of physics, if the contractors truck is not an M-1 Abrams tank, then if there is little or no damage the brick didn't hit the truck at all. Probably Michael Thomas spiked a brick into his own lawn while yelling at the contractor to get off his property.

For the moment - no concrete facts.
Therefore no foundation to the story.

From everything I've read about this the whole thing stinks.
Wouldn't surprise me if that contractor was seeking a "payday" by seeking confrontation with MT.

You do realize that Thomas' contract was reworked and is incentive based, right? His salary matches exactly what he provides because one is dependent upon the other.

I would love a salary like that. Just give me $10 million a year straight up and then kick in a few million or not depending on my performance. That way it will exactly match what I provide.

The question is, how much more than $10 million a year is 49 yards a game and 2 TD season total pace worth?

The fact is, Thomas's contract is not incentive based, it simply includes incentives. Incentives based would be a league minimum or close base salary with everything dependent on incentives. The fact is, Thomas' salary is 70% base salary (converted to signing bonus). He gets $10 million no matter what. It is 30% incentives which is hardly incentives based, just a cherry on top. And those incentives are just for being active, not elite. Thomas is set to earn about $14 million this year for showing up and hauling in 50 yards a game with sparse TDs on a mediocre team. He is showing up, but his performance is is not meeting his paycheck. At this point in his career he is more of a player who should be earning $5 million base salary plus incentives that don't bring his salary above $8 million total unless he is actually putting up #1 WR numbers. Nobody needs to be paying over $10 million a year for an aging injury prone #2/3 caliber receiver. I don't really have concerns about Thomas' attitude but he is producing like an $8 million a year receiver this year and being paid almost double that.

Re: Kenner PD called out to home of Saints Wide Receiver Michael Thomas

I looked into it more and Thomas's contract is structured a bit different than I thought. I thought $10 million was guaranteed if he was on the roster day 1 with how the contract was described on overthecap. Its actually about $6.25 million guaranteed, $3.75 million bonuses for games on roster/active, and $5 million in performance incentives. Michael Thomas was on pace to earn all of the roster/active bonuses and none of the performance incentives as he was not on pace for 100 catches or anything #1 WR like. If he is seriously hurt and out for the year, Thomas will earn about $8.5 million this year.
